Baby Bulaga out to the deep blue sea for the season

Post#1 » by Marley2Hendrix » Mon Nov 12, 2012 6:05 pm

@packers: T Bryan Bulaga (hip injury) has been placed on injured reserve. The Packers signed LB Vic So’oto

Well ****, but yay for the return of the TOD

ETA - was expected/hinted at prior to today.

Looks like lang at RT and EDS at LG. Who knows, the loss of BB may galvanize the rest of the line to step it up and play to their potential (particularly Sitton).

Next man up mentality continues, more shades of the owl season...

Sherrod is practicing, maybe he has something? Doubt it since he has been out so long.

Interesting, haven't heard that but haven't heard much practice news since Dunne left and came back. Well definitely be following the reports from practice today intently.

Given the time frame of Sherrod's injury, I always expected him to comeback midseason and challenge Newhouse for the RT gig, but I never heard that talked about at any point prior to this.

Outside of QB, OL was the position where we least could have afforded to lose players. I think we could survive if the remaining line stayed together the rest of the season, but this is football, we can't depend on that. Time to give Cliffy a call and hope he could provide to us what Tausch did in his return to the team in '09. He completely changed the outlook of that team. Without him we might well have not made the playoffs, and it's not his fault the defense allowed 45 against Zona to send that game into OT.

Sherrod returning to practice is good news, but better two gimps to have hope from than one.

Wes Hodkiewicz ‏@WesHod
Tackle Derek Sherrod, who can practice off PUP for next two weeks, was also taking part in practice #

^^^from CrKone in the other thread.

Giddy-up, ready to see Sherrod earn his paycheck/draft status. I like him and have faith.

I could have swore we put Sherrod on the IR. Anyways, glad he isn't on IR and is practicing.

Yeah I was surprised I never saw the post on Sherrod on here.

I think it was a week ago they took him off the PUP and said they are giving him 2-3 weeks to decide if he can play.

EDIT: Apparently CrKone did hit that tidbit.

This will be a tough one to bounce back from, an extremely soft, finesse, offensive line just got softer.

A big loss to an already weak offensive line. Clearly the injury is as bad as it looked.

Hopefully this next offseason/draft will be centered around the o-line and adding some actual depth.
Ball so hard.

We should almost be looking to use our 1st on a LT. Which is crazy considering we have taken a LT/RT in the 1st twice in the last 3-4 years.

Bulaga developed into a solid RT, but he was hardly some run blocking force. I see the bigger problem being the only healthy backup lineman left are a pair of rookie undrafted free agents. Another serious injury on the line could be a disaster.

Clifton has to be on speed dial, right? He tried out for the Pats in August. I'm sure he has had enough time for his back to heal and has kept himself in shape.

Clifton was a geat Packer, but he's shot, its over. If you're going to call him, you might as wel dial up Karl Swanke and Ken Ruettgers as well.

I feel like a team with a good line probably has somebody on their PS better than what we have.

It's not only having someone physically better, but having someone who can come in and learn the protections fast.

Ugh, this is probably the most devastating injury we've suffered so far this season.

I believe Datko and Cheadle are still on the PS maybe one of them gets the call. At some point we have to add another lineman. I guess they are waiting on Sherrod but I wouldn't expect much of him after missing so much time. I'd rather they just sit him and have him go through a full camp next summer.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

If Datko's has gotten his strength back in his shoulders, I think we should seriously consider calling him up. That dude has the ability to fill in at either tackle position.

Hope Sherrod is actually good to go, that would be huge.
