I agree, we just need to run...run...run...and run some more.
When the pace slows, that's when we get exposed. We can't afford to play at a slower pace.
And I don't understand Avery's obsession with running Deron at the two guard. We already have a 2 guard, his name is Joe Johnson, and he's nasty as all hell. When his back up gets better, he's also nasty as hell. There's no reason at all to play Deron out of position, but Avery swears to god that he knows what he's doing.
If you want to put two PGs in there at times, whatever, but let DERON handle the ball. Tonight imo he was excellent with his passing and that's what we need at all times when he's on the floor.

Exactly.
Leave "Brooklyn's Backcourt" in. Stop the Watson/D-Will backcourt crap!
Put Lopez back in and let him go to work.
I don't even have a problem with Deron and Watson on the floor together for extended minutes, but Deron should remain the 1 almost all that time, with CJ at the 2.
Agreed, though I think Avery/Deron are try to keep him as fresh as possible (less ball handling), some of these guys are just starting to get their legs for the 4th...we're still getting into game shape, think we showed some extra wind in the 4th...I think by next week we should be right about there...
At that point Deron needs to be making the majority of the decisions w/ CJ on the floor...

A true Rodman, other than put backs he always moving the ball, brings the lunch pale every night...and in some regards will protect Brook and others...so important for this team, absolutely loved the signing and still surprised he signed with us...if we make the playoffs, he becomes even more important...

Thats his job...

THAT is Brooklyn's Backcourt!
Finally...bring the consistency w/ that sort of production...

Agreed.
The question is whether this will be our identity from this point going forward.
When we play this fast paced style, our talent and stamina are just wearing the bad teams down. I just hope we keep running against the good teams who operate out of the half court.
There were a few times tonight where the Cavs scored and we sent the outlet pass so quickly upcourt that scored in no time.
That's really demoralizing for the opponent. They work so hard to score and then you score in literally 2-3 seconds.
We're definitely getting there...Overcoming a 3rd like that was a nice step for this team...

Side note: I just keep thinking that if Atlanta was actually looking to tank, and we could somehow acquire Smith for Hump, MarShon, picks, and maybe Tele or Toko and a Euro stash, the defense would click.
JJ, Crash, and J-Smoove would be awesome and Josh would fit right in with this fast paced offense. Although, he and Blatche would need to be separated at all times, since we wouldn't want them dueling each other for who can make the most 3s in a game lol.
I'm liking that...

I didn't go back and read all the previous threads, so it may or may not have been mentioned, but Kyrie Irving is the truth. I haven't watched very many Cleveland games, but I will watch them now. The kid is going to be special for many many years. I bet Deron was glad to see the final second tick off the clock after trying to defend him all night long.
All in all, I was pleased with the outcome of last night. I thought they looked a little more in sync for all 4 quarters. And Avery did a much better job manipulating his players in rotation last night too.

OKC Thunder fan, too.

if he wasnt glued to the bench in the second half against the wolves we would be 5-1 right now.
that game still bothers me.

Amen.... and with the way watson shoots the 3, there is no reason NOT to have him on the wing when he is on the floor with dwill

I think this was a solid win, to be honest. I don't think the Cavs are a scrub team at all. They have a legit star, possibly a superstar actually, in Kyrie Irving, who played D-Will to a standstill, if not straight up outplayed him...and Deron played a great game. Varejao had the game of his life, and they have a lot of young talent that has the potential to end up pretty good.
And keep in mind that you can't really light us up much more than what Irving and Varejao did to us, and we still won...convincingly.

I agree for the most part, but D-Will wasn't guarding Kyrie most of the time.
If you look at the tape, D-Will was actually feasting on Kyrie for most of the game, and then when Deron was at the 2 in the 3rd quarter and Watson was at the 1 guarding Kyrie, that's when Kyrie went off.
I'm not trying to say D-Will could've stopped him but they weren't going 1 on 1 trying to will their team to a win.
Kyrie had a monster individual night, but I'm more than satisfied with D-Will's game. He did what we needed to do to really put a beatdown on the Cavs.
