How on earth are stats not relevant to the mvp race.......monta is shooting under 400 and only at 20 ppg

I have kept my stance since the beginning on how team record impacts whether a player is a MVP candidate which is why I continue to exclude Kobe from such conversations. But your last post is quite baffling in the sense that you state that Lebron, Carmelo, and Duncan are playing at levels above everyone else. To be honest that couldn't be farther from the truth. Unless your name starts with Lebron and ends with James, there isn't another player who is having a batter start to the season than Kobe, so it's bogus to say that Carmelo is. If you want to say that those 3 individuals are the top 3 candidates based on performance and team success, fine but when you say there playing at a completely different level than the rest of the crop, that's false unless your Lebron.

I like the Lebron/Melo Duncan list as well. But as I've said before, if/when the Lakers start winning, kobe will enter the race and he will be a top candidate. Right now he has the second highest TS % of all players playing over 30 minutes, and the first is Lowry who has played half the games that Kobe has played. Second highest scoring in the league with the second highest efficiency is pretty impressive....not saying it will last, but it'll be interesting to see to what level it will drop off. That being said Lebron is the number candidate even if the Lakers had the same record as the Heat. I'm dissapointed in how meh Durant has been.

Ya Kobe's been absolutely horrific on D this year. Though the man is still going 50/40/90 in his 17th season. That's pretty crazy even though its only been 8 games.

Melo is way too high on some of these lists.

He is playing well but not really at an MVP level. Knicks are undefeated because they are getting production out of all their other rotation players. Not because Melo is carrying them.

Agreed. Hell JR Smith might be higher on my list than Melo.

Most would call me a Kobe hater but his line is beyond impressive. I don't think he will be able to keep it up but offensively he is playing as well as he has ever played.
