Lance Berkman for DH?

Post#1 » by Kapono » Wed Nov 14, 2012 7:27 pm

Why not? He would be cheap. He can play first base. Is a switch hitter with power. Great OBP guy. Can provide another veteran presence to the club house. Far better than Adam Lind.

Except he hates the DH role and wants to stay in the field...

Well he's 36 and coming off an injury plauged season. If he could return to 2011 form, he'd be a great, cheap addition.

It only cemented my opinion that the AL is Mickey Mouse and the National League is real baseball, I hate the DH, even though it might prolong my career.

I approve of this message. I approve even if he insists on playing LF or 1B a little bit.

Nurse is below average at best.
Masai is overrated.

Promise him a X amount of games at LF and a X amount of games at 1B.

Best case for us would be an incentive-laden contract for playing 1st Base, he's reiterated over and over he doesn't like to play DH.

Though before any offer we'd have to see how Encarnacion would take the idea of DH-ing or swapping positions (again)

I would rather go after someone like Napoli, even if it costs more.

Well Edwin was pretty much forced into the role when Lind was sent down. I think he could care less as long as he's in the line up.

It's a good idea, but I doubt he would want to play what might be his last MLB season in Toronto, especially as a DH.

Can't he play 1st base? Make Edwin the DH.

I'd like to see Jason Bay get an invite to spring training
