GT: Knicks vs. Spurs

Post#1 » by Nolan » Thu Nov 15, 2012 5:39 pm

When: 8:30 PM ET, November 15, 2012
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio, TX

Starting Lineups:

Knicks:
PG - Raymond Felton
SG - Jason Kidd
SF - Ronnie Brewer
PF - Carmelo Anthony
C - Tyson Chandler

Spurs:
PG - Tony Parker
SG - Danny Green
SF - Kawhi Leonard
PF - Tim Duncan
C - DeJuan Blair

Yes the Knicks are 6-0 but they haven't beat us at home in almost a decade (9 games).

With Melo at the 4 the Knicks have been cranking up the tempo and creating matchup problems left and right. But I think we are one of few teams in the league that can matchup with them and beat them.

Go Spurs!!

Actually, it's the opposite. We have one of the slowest paces in the league.

Should be a good, but really tough game. I have a hard time seeing us take this game in San Antonio. Then again, I never would've guessed we were going to be 5-0 after playing Dallas, Miami and Philly. So, who knows?

Good luck, good game, I hope you lose :D

It's in SA and we're rested. So I expect this to be a win.

Expect to see a whole lot of small ball for this game. Probably won't see much of Blair and Diaw. Kawhi/Sjax vs Carmelo is the story line here. With a lot of small ball, we need our perimeter guys to show up today, especially Gary Neal. I hope he comes out big tonight because when we play a lot of small ball, Gary usually see a lot of time at SG because Manu and Green gets time at SF.

Gonna be a good game, but Knicks won't be undefeated no more.

Will be interesting...I personally think the Knicks match up well with the Spurs...Tyson/Camby should make it tough on Duncan and I remember Duncan sometimes struggling against tall/athletic defenders. Felton/Kidd and Prigs are probably too slow to keep Parker down but at least they'll try hard on defense.
Smith vs. Ginobili will be interesting. Unfortunately the Spurs have 3 good defenders to put on Melo and might force Melo into bad shots. I expect a high intensity low scoring game. I don't think any of the teams score more than 90 points.

I actually expect this to be a high scoring game. If we are to have a game that features a lot of small ball that couldn't score, then it will likely be a loss. Our small ball lineups aren't geared toward shutting down offenses. It is mostly to generate offense IMO. Smallball + No Offense = Lose.

And this is our first game back after the road trip. And with the only undefeated team left in the NBA coming in, there shouldn't be any excuses if we don't come out with the right intensity.

This post sums up the game in a nutshell, if it is a high scoring game then more than likely the Spurs win, if it is low scoring game then the Knicks win. If the scores are in the 90-99 range then the game likely is an even matched game that comes down to the last few possessions.

I think for you guys Parker is the key...we have some good defenders at the PG but no one that can match Parker's speed so it's up to Tony to lead you guys.

I'd be surprised if Duncan or Manu have big scoring nights. With Camby/Tyson/Brewer/Smith we have a bunch of guys that match up well with them.

Great game too bad we had to be on the losing end of this one.

Really great game guys. It was almost playoff intensity.

I thought pulling Splitter hurt your chances, and obviously Kidd had the late game heroics.

See you all at the garden, grats on the great game.

That and 1 from splitter to give the spurs a 12 point lead with roughly 7 minutes to go. Really had my emotion shut down.

I might get some bad feed backs on this but... I honestly think Pop lost the game for you guys. Tim Duncan was sitting in the bench for a long stretch in the 4th quarter (Spiltter was playing great with the pnr with tony). After he inserted Duncan back in the momentum change. He should of put Tim Duncan back in a little earlier or just let Spitter ride out.

No, the momentum already changed when Splitter was still in there. Kidd's 3 pointers started to close the gap and Pop inserted Manu and then Duncan not long after.

The game was lost IMO because Parker and Manu couldn't deliver down the stretch. When NY started to make their come back, Parker tried to take this team on his shoulder. I don't fault him for that. In fact, that's what he has to do. Get aggresive. Unfortunately, he can't finish on either his short jumpers nor his floaters. And then I remember a sequence where Manu ran around screens only to shoot a 3 pointer, and then he had a turnover, and then he got caught in the air and was forced to pass it to Kawhi in the corner who had no time left on the shotclock and it ended up being a 24 second violation.

Parker and Manu did the right thing in that they tried to take control of the offense. I can't blame Pop for subtituting Splitter. Tim had a pretty good game defensively and when Pop decided to sub Splitter for Duncan, our defense was all messed up after those Kidd three pointers. Not saying it's Splitter's fault, but Duncan is the captain of our defense. I'm guessing Pop brings him back to restore order on the defensive end.

i'll trade you this game for the 99 title.

I always want the spurs to come out of the West no matter who they face. Always a class organization that gets underrated every season.

Tough loss for sure - the positive is that Splitter played real well
