Who won the Melo trade?

Post#1 » by Darain » Fri Nov 16, 2012 10:08 am

Knicks are off to their 2nd best franchise start, with Camelo looking like an MVP Record: 6-0

Nuggets even with Igoudala and McGee are struggling to stay above 50% Record: 4-5

nugs did as well as possible, but the team giving up the star almost always loses a trade.

It hurts that the best player traded by NY (felton) is back with us

Well, none of them have won a championship since the trade, and both were first round exit last year...no winner

I think both teams won.

The Knicks are doing really well so far this season, so they'll win the poll, but both teams would make the trade again I feel pretty sure.

So we're reviewing who won the trade 2 years after it happened? The Nuggets clearly won the trade and they've been more successful since the trade was made.

Yes, the Knicks are doing well now but they will fall back down to earth eventually.

The Knicks have looked absolutely atrocious until this season while the Nuggets have outplayed just about everyone's expectations post trade. The Knicks have looked great this season but let's be honest, anything besides a championship or at the very least a Eastern Conference final will be considered a failure.

The Knicks won the trade because they got the best player, but the Nuggets have been the more impressive team thus far.

Easy to make this thread now since Knicks are doing well while Nuggets are 4-5. But Melo was traded few years ago and nobody made a thread of who won the trade between the two last year, now did they?

as more time passes the better evaluation can be made of the trade.

For example Wilson Chandler we thought was a nice player but doesnt even play now. Gallo was the guy with great potential but obviously isnt going to become a star. Felton we got back. Moz doesnt play.

There's probably been a dozen threads about who won the trade.

Would you rather have Melo or Gallinari, Chandler, Mozgov and Andre Miller?

Answer is pretty clear.

Especially when you consider the salary of Gallinari who has regressed in the last couple of years while now consuming a lot of cap-space. Same thing with Wilson Chandler who now only plays 17 MPG while making about 6m/year.

Not this again.

The consensus was that the nuggets won that trade. Not because they necessarily got way better (this is not true), but because the Knicks did not have to give up as many pieces as they did for Melo.

Nets gave up Harris, Favors and Kanter.

^ How else were the knicks going to match a package of youth and picks that NJ had out there? The only thing holding up the trade to the Knicks was that Denver wanted NJ's package and Melo tried to bluff NJ into passing. I'm convinced the reason Dolan went all in after meeting with Melo during the ASW was because Melo told him he would actually resign in NJ.
