Re: Kemba Walker
I liked Kemba in college. He was abysmal last year. I liked Knight in college. He was only marginally better last year.
I wish Kemba well, but I'm happy with Knight. He's got the size and skill set (particularly as a jump shooter) that gives him more potential to improve and reach another level. I have no doubt he'll keep developing - nobody works as hard, and he's already shown improvement from last year. Let's give him (and Kemba) the year before anyone starts making any conclusions.

Re: Kemba Walker
Walker is Will Bynum pt 2. He's having a good 7 game streak but I doubt it holds and I certainly wouldn't take him over Knight.
Im over slash first guards that cannot shoot. . I want a well rounded PG, that can shoot, set up his man, grab a rebound or two and defend. Knight is on his way, he's improving as a PG, he needs to improve his scoring efficiency and defense. He's 20 years old and is progressing, I see no reason to abandon him.
I swear, with how much hate Knight gets on this board, I wonder when its gonna start for Andre Drummond. If he doesn't turn into Dwight soon, I can only imagine the uprising.

You mean you want a PG that can have an occassional game where he put sup 26 pts 7asts 8 steals and 6 rebounds? Cuz Kemba did that a couple of games ago...

So did Will Bynum when he first started playing for Det.

I think both Kemba and Knight will be good. I'm just more happy with Knight.

not really a troll, just judging the situation objectively. the numbers dont lie. any preference for knight at this point is an opinion based on emotion, not logic

You're proclaiming Kemba being good after he was historically awful for 66 games.

Yeah. What a troll. How dare someone think that Kemba is better than our inefficient point guard who doesn't know how to run an offense!

Re: Kemba Walker
Are we really going to judge 2nd year point men?
Really?
IF we are going to judge these guys surely we're not going to base our opinions on a season less than 10 games old.
I realise this is a message board and this is part of the game (discussing recockulous topics) but surely we can't make an informed choice between Walker and Knight just yet. Not enough data, too small a sample and all that jazz
An impartial observer I'm not but I'd imagine someone who is would say it's too soon to tell which is "better"
"Better" is subjective anyway - some people use advanced stats to make a point, some don't. Who decides what criteria we use? How can you use stats to convince someone who doesn't care about stats that they are "wrong"?
Do we factor in "quality of the roster" when discussing individual players? Does Knight have "better" team mates? Does Kemba? Do we consider which environment is "better" suited to post big stats? Do we consider which Coach is "better", which team had the "harder" schedule?
I admit I do find the discussion entertaining... even though it's a complete waste of time

Re: Kemba Walker
FWIW - Kemba has shot over 43% 3 out of 8 games... is shooting under 17% from 3....he does shoot over 86% from the line though
Average of 3.9 boards, 5.5 assists, just over 2 steals per game... along with 2 turnovers per
From 10 games Knight has shot over 43% 3 times...is shooting over 35% from 3... but only slightly over 74% from the line...
Average of 4.3 boards, 7.1 assists, almost zero steals and just over 3 turnovers per game
So.... do we consider that maybe Knight has better team mates and therefore gets more assists due to the quality of said team mates? IF you believe so then how do you ecplain Detroit's poor record? Is that due to a more difficult schedule (7 of 10 on the road)
And when discussing Kemba vs. Knight do we factor in that Walker is almost NO threat to nail a 3 pointer? How heavily do you weigh that fact? Or does it "not really matter"?
If it doesn;t matter to you why doesn't it matter? Does it not matter because Charlotte have other long range threats and therefore Kemba doesn't "need" to be able to shoot 3's at a reasonable clip? And if you believe Charlotte does have other long range threats does that excuse Kemba from being a reliable 3 point shooter?
I could go on all day with this... and I haven't even started on advanced stats.

I posted the comparison on the PC board to get unbiased opinions.
So far though Charlotte/Kemba has looked really good and Detroit/Knight are underwhelming and you can see why people are making judgements.
