Projected Batting Order

Post#1 » by CoachD » Fri Nov 16, 2012 7:25 pm

How do you all see it shaking out - now that the Jays have made the surprising signing of Melke Cabrerra, and assuming the Miami trade goes through?

1. Reyes SS
2. Cabrerra LF
3. Bautista RF
4. E.E. 1B
5. Lawrie 3B
6. Rasmus CF
7. J.P. C
8. Boni DH
9. Izturis 2B

1. Reyes
2. Cabrera
3. Bautista
4. Encarnacion
5. Lind/DH
6. Lawrie
7. Rasmus
8. Arencibia/D'arnaud
9. Izturis/2B

There is a guess.

1. Reyes (SS)
2. Bonifacio (DH)
3. Bautista (RF)
4. Encarnacion (1B)
5. Cabrera (LF)
6. Lawrie (3B)
7. Rasmus (CF)
8. Arencibia/D'arnaud (C)
9. Izturis (2B)

IMO, this team has so much power, that we really don't have to go with a conventional DH. Playing Reyes and Bonifacio at the top of the line-up would be a nightmare for opponents. It would mean a lot for fastballs for Bautista and co.

This is a championship calibre line-up.

If Bonifacio can return to 2011 form I'd definitely have him in the 2 hole and Melky will fit nicely at 5.

This is what you go with IMO. You keep speed on the basepaths at the top of the lineup and watch the chaos that unfolds as Bautista and Edwin rake.

Question for someone who's watched more Marlins baseball than myself...

Who is the better defender in CF, Rasmus or Bonifacio?

Don't really know, but my money would be on Rasmus considering he is one of the best in the league.

Hopefully they keep JP and then Buck as backup, wanna see JP hit 20-30 hr with this lineup as a 7-8 hitter

Travis can earn his keep, Buck an JP can always be traded later - as we saw last year injuries happen, especially catchers

Ideally Boni and Izturis share time at 2B/being a utility player and then the DH issue is solved by trading for or signing either Lind's replacement or someone who can platoon with Lind (ie. Gomes.)

Trade JPA and Lind for anything. Both these guys are below average players at their position. Arencibia is a liability defensively and Lind is a liability offensively. I'd be fine with Buck/Wilson to start the season, with D'Arnaud eventually taking over.

Reyes
Cabrera
Bautista
Encarnacion
Lawrie
Rasmus
D'Arnaud
Lind's replacement
Izturis

Buck sucks now. Sad thing is he is still better than JP. Wow.

Scientifically speaking, the bench has improved by 573.89%.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Agreed. I'd package JP up with a reliver and a youngster for another DH bat
