Di Novo also suggested Buehrle could simply flout the law.

“Chances are the enforcement officers aren’t going to come after his dog because he’s a celebrity. … People with money tend not to be targeted, because animal enforcement knows they can get lawyers to fight it.”

Well, that solves that.

I see people walking pitbulls all the time. Nobody enforces this law.

I hope that's the result, however I think there will be a douche neighbour who has no idea who he is, and complains to authorities until they take action regardless if Buehrle will get his lawyers to fight it.

He needs to move somewhere where he has no neighbors :P

How will they get said dog into Toronto in the first place? Fly him to a province that doesn't have the rule (quebec) and drive him across?

Why should it matter who he is?

Anyways, I say just bring the dog.

The more I hear about Buehrle, at least his stance on dogs, the more I like him.

I think people are making this a bigger deal than it needs to be. This is one of the problems with a November signing...far too much time for the media and fans to freak out over our city's inferiority complex.

You weren't the first. If you had happened to read the thread through, at least 3 other people mentioned it before you. And they didn't just use their drinking buddies as their sources.

You weren't ripped for your comment, genius. You were ripped for your "sources". It would be like if I came here and said "Hey guys, my sister hates Adam Lind. Isn't that something?"

It's not inferiority complex. The guy is militant about this and wasn't going to sign with MIA had he not found a compromise. Sure, he's going to report, but will he be a distraction, will he give 100%. Unlike Johnson whom I think AA really wanted, even with the one year contract sign, Buehrle could be packaged to get even a slight additional upgrade. Not saying it's likely, but can't discount the possibility.

More on Ontarios laws regarding pitbulls:

http://www.attorneygeneral.jus.gov.on.ca/english/about/pubs/dola-pubsfty/dola-pubsfty.asp#TOC_04

Individuals who already own pit bulls will be able to keep them, provided they comply with requirements set out in the amendments and the regulations.
Pit bulls kept legally after the ban will be known as "grandfathered" or restricted pit bulls.
In order for a pit bull to qualify as a "grandfathered" or restricted pit bull, it must be:
Owned by an Ontario resident on August 29, 2005., or
Born in Ontario within 90 days after August 29, 2005.

Anyway, I don't know all the ins and outs of owning a pitbull here, but i imagine an issue like this must have discussed prior to the trade since this was an issue with Buehrle in the past.

I'm sure the Jays knew about it, but that doesn't mean it's a settled issue... yet. The family could send the dog to a specialized recovery farm for pitbulls. There's one near Halifax that give them a good home.

Im surprised Buehrle even knows about this law. Digging for an excuse? Perhaps he was more interested in playing out his contract in a low tax state with nice weather? Lets hope he's fine with coming here.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

I have had my share of discussions with colleagues and friends about what if Buehrle doesn't want to play here, etc. What about the school of thought that he is signed on a fairly exorbitant deal that requires him play baseball? Quite frankly, if he doesn't want to play here and we cannot move him in a deal that doesn't help the team why not just play hardball and see how that works out? Ultimately, hoping he is happy to come here and is actually genuinely excited, but if he isn't do you think he is actually going to pull a no show?
