Re: KOTB: Orlando, Sacramento, & Detroit
I really like this trade all around.
Detroit (the FO) may not want to move Prince, but I can see the fans behind this and I think it's very good value given Prince's contract.
For Sacramento they shore up their weakest positions with quality vets that I think they desperately need.. unless Prince tries to lead a mutiny like he and Rip were rumored to have done in Detroit, but I think he and Afflalo would be add defense and size.
For Orlando, Evans and JJ are exactly the type of players they need to take chances on and Evans could even help with their spotty PG play.

Sacramento says no. They're not giving up on Tyreke to get a low-ceiling player like Afflalo when they're not contending for anything anytime soon anyway, and are a terrible FA destination. Their best chance at relevance is Tyreke figuring it out, not moving him for pennies on the dollar at the lowest trade value of his career.

Since they are not a prime FA destination wouldn't it make sense looking for locked up players like AA and Prince?

Yes, but not at the expense of a significantly more talented, if less productive RFA like Tyreke. Especially considering Prince's advanced age and the fact that he will not be useful by the time the Kings are postseason contenders. If the Kings were to move Tyreke, I think they would want draft picks.

Re: KOTB: Orlando, Sacramento, & Detroit
I vote yes for all teams.
I think Tyreke has more potential than Afflalo and a change of scenery will probably do him well but he's also going to command a much bigger salary than the >8 million Afflalo gets for the next 4 years. But I think Tyreke or Orlando's pick this year could be the face of the franchise depending on where that lands and that's what Orlando needs going forward.
Prince and Afflalo adds two solid pros to the locker room which is what Sactown seems to be lacking. They'll be looking for Cousins or Robinson to become the star that they need to fight for a playoff seed though.
Detroit continues to usher out the old guard from the great run they had and continue to build for the future they will be semi players in the class of 13 and could be major players in the class of 14 when Charlie V and Stuckey come off the books.

Orlando passes. Evans is not a true PG and doesnt shoot that well. He will not be the volume shooter he was his rookie year in Sac town. The Magic dont want to pick him up, then he expects a huge contract from them or someone else next year. He is a bit of a bonehead too. Would rather stick with Afflalo than this trade.

I get those concerns, but you made no mention of James Johnson who is a rather under the radar SF and certainly someone who can compete for minutes now.

Re: KOTB: Orlando, Sacramento, & Detroit
I think Orlando is the only sticking point here. Now I realize its really giving the Kings FO a huge benefit of the doubt they havent earned but surely they could see the value in this deal for them. Clearing Prince's contract makes sense for Detroit. Orlando may not want to be in the position of possibly having to make a big investment in Evans or risk losing AA for nothing which looks bad to their fanbase in the wake of the Dwight fiasco.
Im going to vote no even tho I like the deal for everyone because I think Orlando doesnt want the risk and further PR nightmare attached to Evans and because Sac isnt always known for making smart decisions personel wise.

well, we have this kid the new GM traded for, Moe Harkless, who will be the future SF. so not really that interested in another SF to develop.

I know who you have.. that's why I said compete for minutes.. since right now you are lacking at SF with Turk out for some time. I also think some healthy competition for SF (where you need a starter and a back up) isn't a bad thing.

Afflalo and Harrington can eat up minutes until Hedo comes back. Again, it isnt worth the headache of dealing with Evans who doesnt know what position he is and wanting a big contract. we also have Dequan Jones that can develop at SF. he was the reason the Magic FO cut Q-Rich.

I love this trade all around. Gives Orlando someone they can test out and possibly build around and another young player for a guy who is kind of wasting time in a non-winning situation. Sacramento gets two pieces that make the team better. Detroit gets to dump a big contract that they don't need.

That and that Q-Rich isn't any good anymore.

I thought Harkless was a terrible pick for Philly, but Orlando is the ideal spot for him. Will be curious to watch him develop.
Overall I'm similar to Chuck on this deal, but pretty much 50-50 on the fence. So, abstaining.

so you want Orlando to give up a good SG on a decent contract in AA, to try out Evans who doesnt know what position he is for 1 year and then have to give him a big contract? no thanks.

for all that, Q-Rich was a good vet on the team and had a guaranteed contract for this year and next, and was cut to develop Jones.

Sorry but no. Orlando passes. You have to consider that they reall like Aflalo. He was the centerpiece for them of the Howard deal. He has a lot value to them. I think he's better than Evans as well who will command a good chunk of cash.

sigh, Afflalo was not the centerpiece for the Howard deal, the picks, Harkless and Vucevic were. hence the start of the tank and go young movement.

A report came out, though, that they REALLY wanted Afflalo. That's the only reason Denver was in the deal.
