Hopefully to a team that doesn't use him as the secondary ball-handler and spot-up shooter.

Hope Lakers try. Lin will learn a lot playing behind Nash and be the eventual starter along with Dwight.

 This don't make sense.. if bringing Lin was mostly the owners call then if I'm the owner why don't I just move the coaches?

Last 11 points by Lilliard.

2FT after Mook fouled him after pick and roll set Lillard free.
3PT on Wing pick and roll. Douglas went over the pick and and could not recover.
2FT on loose ball foul by Lin after Harden lost ball after being knocked to ground by Mathews.
Lay up against Parsons after Lin and Parsons.
Contested jumper against Lin.

No one got torched. Lillard just made some incredible plays

Why do people keep saying that Lilliard scored his last 11 all on Lin then?

Cause people didn't watch the game and are making stuff up.

That, or they are Kelvin Sampson.

I just finished watching this game. That Rockets coach are as incompetent as they come.

Current Defensive Statistics from Synergy Sports, including the Portland game...

Points Per Possession Allowed

Jeremy Lin - 0.71 (50th in the NBA of ALL positions)
Toney Douglas - 0.87 (151st in the NBA of ALL positions)

Opponent FG%

Jeremy Lin - 34.4%
Toney Douglas - 42.5%

Opponent 3pt%

Jeremy Lin - 33.3%
Toney Douglas - 37.5%

Overall Opponent %Score

Jeremy Lin - 32.5%
Toney Douglas - 38.2%

The funny thing about numbers is that they never lie.

Read 1st page... no one watched the game...

It was actually Parsons on Lillard a lot/ most of 4th. Douglas did a much better job defending pnr when he got switch on Batum. He actually slowed Batum(who was like Reggie Miller tonight) down.

Either way Portland back-court is underrated and this is the 2nd time they have out played the more praised Houston back-court.

I'd be very surprised because of how back-loaded his contract is. That back-load is the reason why the Knicks didn't match Lin's offer sheet, and I think it will scare teams off with the new luxury tax that is going in effect soon.

It's only 5/5/15 for Knicks. 8.3mil/yr for Houston and everyone else.

Sampson believed Douglas would up the defensive presense, but in exchange, he completely halted the Rockets' offense without Lin.

And in the end, this isn't even about how good of a player Lin is, or how much you like him. The fact is, there is no reason to put in a player like Douglas over Lin.

I just thought it was a little bit better defensive matchup. I thought Jeremy played well and I thought Toney did well. Both our point guards played well tonght.

It makes me sick of even thinking Toney Douglas playing at crunch time over anybody. And im not even a Rockets fan, but i wouldnt play him at all, what excatly hes good at? I think Machado is a lot better PG then him and so is Lin, obviously.

Unless the Rockets are getting a all star level player I doubt it.

I think the owner definitely had something to do with it but the Rockets really needed a PG when they made the offer to Lin. The Rockets was trying to resign Dragic but didn't want to give him a player's option, and already traded Lowry because he didn't get along with the coach. By then the only point guard the Rockets had under contract was Tony Douglas, and the only best point guard available at that point was Lin.

What I can assume, for a partial reason, is the Houston Rocket's still have a huge Chinese Fanbase because of Yao Ming. The move is in some way to maintain marketability to that demographic. It's possible they had some benefits that were coming to a close after Yao had retired and this was a move that could help restore that. Say, corporate sponsorships for one, you look into the Rockets stadium and you can see at least one very apparent Chinese sponsorship right underneath the hoop/padded area for "Peak". Also, the possibility of the allstar game being in Houston can have loads of Chinese voting in Lin into his home teams allstar game which could lead to all sorts of marketing benefits. That's my guess.
Being a Blazer fan isn't exactly healthy.

He may not be the best player alive, but at the very very least, he's better than Tony Douglas in any quantifiable aspect of playing basketball.

No one is claiming that he is GOAT, so go troll somewhere else.

Douglas shot poorly last year, but his first two season he hit his threes at a good rate. He's at 35% from three on his career, which is respectable and higher than Lin.

... Don't get me wrong, Douglas is pretty terrible. But Lin can't exactly shoot.
