Are you guys enjoying Ray Allen's defense?

Post#1 » by cnv2855 » Fri Nov 16, 2012 10:34 pm

I am glad you guys picked up Ray Allen from the Celtics. The guy is absolutely incapable of contributing anything on the defensive end, and in the end he will only weaken the Heat. You can think this is a chemistry issue all you want, but this is why the guy was benched for Avery Bradley in Boston last year. As soon as Ray went to the bench, Boston emerged post All Star break with the best record in the league... it's no coincidence.

It's going to make it easier for either the Celtics or the Knicks to knock you guys out in the 2nd round. There's no question that Allen is a liability for a contender, at this stage in his career.

Hope you guys enjoy your off-season acquisition. :)

It was boure’ (form of poker) night in the bayou, and while his wife Marie was out playing cards. Boudreaux had Thibodeaux over to shoot some nutria out back of the house. Now, Boudreaux was way too cheap to get the eyeglasses he needed, so between his near-sightedness and a few libations, shooting nutria at night with Boudreaux was a bit of an adventure.

About midnight, Boudreaux triggered a wild shot that ricocheted left off of Thibodeaux’s outboard boat motor, striking Marie’s rabbit hutch. Throwing down their cans of Dixie (beer), the two Cajun’s ran to the hutch, where they found Marie’s favorite rabbit, Hoppopotomus, dead from the bullet!

Boudreaux sobered up beaucoup quick (very fast), thinking of what Marie would do to him when she came home and found Hoppopotomus dead. He gently took the rabbit out of the hutch an laid it on the grass, saying over and over “She done gone to kill me!”

Thibodeaux gave Boudreaux hope when he said “No she ain’t. I got a plan, me.” And with that, Thibodeaux fired up Boudreaux’s boat (his own having a .22 caliber dent in the casing) and took off down the bayou.

About the time Boudreaux had decided his friend had beaten a hasty retreat for the safety of his own home, he heard the boat coming back. Thibodeaux jumped out of the boat with a can in his hand, walked up to the body of Hoppopotomus laying in the grass, and sprayed the contents of the can all over the dead rabbit.

To Boudreaux’s amazement, Hoppopotomus came to life. The rabbit jumped up, waved its paw at the two men and hopped across the yard. Twenty yards away, the rabbit stopped, turned around, waved and hopped down the road another twenty yards, turned, waved and then vanished into the brush along the side of the road.

Boudreaux was astonished. He turned to Thibodeaux and said, “What the heck was in that spray can, you?”

Thibodeaux read the label of the can to the astonished Boudreaux, “Hair Spray. Restores life to dead hair. Adds permanent wave.”

Ray Allen and defense...is that some sort of oxymoron?

Ray Ray is shooting 51% from the 3 on 50% shooting averaging 12 points...pretty sure he wasn't recruited for his D.

OP comes off as bitter.

It's not a troll, it's a legit topic regarding Ray Allen.

You're bashing Ray Allen( Heat Player ) On the HEAT BOARD and you expect it to be a LEGIT discussion?
+ you're a Celtics fan I assume..

I'll just play along..

Ray Allen is 37! Not quick laterally, slower and did I mention, he is 37. Did you expect Ray Allen to be a good defender? Worst troll attempt ever

?? I don't get why people are giving the guy such a hard time. Obviously he's (Please Use More Appropriate Word), but Ray is terrible on defense and our defensive efficiency changes drastically when he's not on the court.

Ray Allen was brought to Miami to be an offensive spark off the bench, drain 3's, and extend defenses. So far he has done exactly that. Pretty sure Riley nor anyone here was expecting him to be a defensive stopper at 37.

We don't need Ray Allen for his defense. All he needs to do is space the floor on offense. I doubt he will be on the floor when its crunch time and we need a defensive stop.

He spaces the floor better than any other player in the NBA. He's also great on his free throws, which will help us at the end of games.

Lame troll attempt.

The defense with the Ray AND Rashard in the lineup is not good. I want to say it's because they're still learning our scheme, but I think both are liabilities and can't be played together. We'll be fine with one or the other, but playing both of them together for extended minutes should not be seriously considered if they don't improve.

Obviously he wasn't brought in for his defense, but that doesn't mean we can withstand all the defense dropoff that comes with him. It's like JJ, he provides fantastic spacing and 3pt shooting, but we don't play him for a reason.

At this point, I don't think we'll play him less. But I do think that people are assuming we "needed" Ray Allen's offense when we don't. His offense is only worthwhile if it isn't offset by his defensive shortcomings.

We certainly enjoyed him scoring 19 points on 7 shots against his former team.
