Wizards vs Utah Sat 7PM @ the Booth

Post#1 » by hands11 » Sat Nov 17, 2012 4:18 pm

http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/wi ... story.html

“I’m trying, but it becomes a point where you have to give something else a try, too,” Wittman said. “As a coach, you search to try to find that right mix and I haven’t been able to do that. We got to get to that point, where you’ve got five that are starting and you’ve got a rotation coming off the bench who knows when they are coming in. That’s when you become a consistent team. And we’re not even close to that now.”

The bench has outscored the starting five of Price, Bradley Beal, Trevor Ariza, Trevor Booker and Emeka Okafor in four of the first seven games — including the 107-101 loss on Wednesday in Dallas, where the second unit scored a season-high 63 points. The reserves, led by Jordan Crawford and Kevin Seraphin, were responsible for 62 points in the home-opening loss to Boston.

Price sprained his right ankle early in the third quarter against Dallas but was able to practice without complication on Friday. He said the Wizards need to do whatever it takes to add a notch to the win column.

Utah at the end of a 4 game east road trip and on a back to back and on a two game losing streak.

The Jazz's troubles scoring away from EnergySolutions Arena extend outside the paint. Aside from a 140-point outburst in a triple-overtime win at Toronto earlier this week, the Jazz have averaged just 91.7 points on 42.6 shooting in six road defeats.

Wizards will get their first win of the year tonight.

Hopefully they pick up where they left off last game.

Crawford, Livingston, Price ( use the Price ankle as an opportunity to see what Craw can do stating PG )
Beal, Martin, Webster ( Martin and Web are both spot up 3 pt shooter. Feet set )
Trevor A, Singleton
Kevin, Ves, Booker ( finding the right spot for Booker is tough right now. Maybe even some small ball center)
Okafor, Barron ( Barron has shown well at times. Give him a shot )

They can always roll Web to SF, Singleton to PF and Kevin to Center is needed.

New starters are Crawford and Kevin

If Beal isn't feeling it, roll in Martin. Price simply shoots to many 3 balls and he isn't that good at it. .311
The team hasn't won with him at PG. Time to give someone else a chance.

Eventually, I wouldn't mind if they start the younger players and let the support vets come in together as the second line. That is kind of how they ended thing last year. That way they can come out with Wall running, then let the vet do there more organized half court thing against weaker talent.

OK Hands, a broken clock's right twice a day (or once a day military time, or...oh, forget it) so maybe your thread brings win. Maybe a lineup change alters the horrid offensive rhythm the team's been in, maybe more than one starter starts off scoring well (say, Beal and Seraphin) making it more difficult to shut either down. Maybe Crawford's 3s drop. Maybe the Wizards' interior girth slows Millsap, Jefferson, Favors. Maybe the Jazz shooting goes cold. Maybe...the Wizards win.

Or maybe Foye shoots lights out off the bench and destroys the Wizards in the 4th. Only Ka-Bala knows for sure.

Jazz to deep for wizard and Mo Williams and Randy Foye always kills wizards from 3 point range. Much as i love the wizards i really cant see us beating the jazz they have to much depth for us.

Millsap been shooting 60% from 3's It just a lot of match up problems for wizards then they have a ton of good 3 point shooters including Marvin Williams. As for wizards they need Crawford and Beal to play well to even be competitive.

Our only real hope is that they're tired off a B2B. They may be hungrier then we expect though since they lost to philly last night. Its a "winnable" game....but so have been most of them this year, we just end up shooting ourselves in the foot.

The Jazz have averaged just 91.7 points on 42.6 shooting in six road defeats.

End of a 4 game road trip of which they lost 2 already and the one they won was a 3x OT.

Randy is ready to change the line ups. Wizards have played well in spurts but also have these long dry spells where they can't score. I think a lot of that has to do with who have the ball in their hand in crunch time. We now we added Livingston and Crawford showed last game they he can handle those duties as well.

That two upgrades in the area of biggest need.

If Randy lines them up well, they can get their first win. I can see how it all adds up to that.

I can't see us winning this. Utah is too big for us. God knows Vesely is going to be muscled around. Who's going to guard Millsap?

They need something, and they definitely need a win. Maybe, along with some lineup changes, your thread gives a little extra good juju.

Not in the same league, but Booker, Okafor, and Seraphin might be able to soften his inside game. If he's hitting his jumpers, they probably won't be too much help, but Ariza and Singleton might be able to follow him further out. Just looking for a positive scenario.

I don't think you've seen us play this year. We were blown out by the bobcats.

Its amazing how different your team is on the road vs. at home in SLC

But you haven't seen our Wizards... We'll get a lead and Foye/Williams/Hayward will be getting buckets at the end to win. I've seen this script too many times. Plus your bigs will outrebound our bigs.

Thanks for stopping by Jaz fan.

The Wiz fans are pretty beaten down so it hard for them to see any situation that might lead to a win.

We could really us this one. Its been a though start this season. Specially since when healthy the team looks like it might have the pieces to be decent and being decent has been something we haven't seen in years.

Hope the fans give Shaun a big welcome back
