Rick Bonnell ‏@rick_bonnell
Can't fault the defensive effort -- Memphis shooting 39 percent. But Bobcats comitted 17 turnovers resulting in 25 Grizzlies points.

Rick Bonnell ‏@rick_bonnell
It wasn't just that Bobcats committed turnovers. They were the sloppy mid-court kind that lead directly to run-outs.

Well, this Memphis team -- with Gay, Gasol, Randolph and Conley -- went 40-42 three years ago. Let's hope we can make similar strides.

Was Memphis unbeatable? Absolutely not. But we can only blame ourselves for not using the opportunity to win them at the end of a road trip.

This is not a bad loss. We played a pretty poor game offensively and had way too many careless turnovers and lost to the best team in the league by 7. After last season, I'll take it

Despite the loss, I'm proud of this 'Cats team for hanging in there with what's considered the best team in the NBA right now

I firmly believe if the referees called a better game that the 'Cats would've won. I seen Conley get away with about 4 offensive fouls on great defense by Kemba in the 4th quarter alone. I won't even mention the half dozen other bad or non calls

I was on the edge of my seat with the jitters almost the whole game. The whistles were unkind to MKG and Kemba's great defensive plays that could have swung momentum. At the end of the day tho it was a valiant effort. Hopefully we can beat the Bucks on Monday to stay above .500

Glad to know that MJ is noticing the Mullitzki's "great" play.

Ben Swanson @CardboardGerald
The Bobcats move to 0-5 all-time in games when Byron Mullens takes 19 or more shots.

Bobcats were 19-28 (68%) from the free throw line last night, we have to take advantage of those easy points, that covered the deficit last night. IMO, we played like hell last night and still ended up only losing by 7, that's a great sign, seeing as we played the "NBA's best". I'd like to see Biz finish better, and we need JT pullin more minutes, the guy is a defensive monster.
Mike Malone was never given a fair chance in Sacramento, and Ranadive will soon come to regret that, when he's on top of the WC inevitably contending somewhere

I never understand why Dunlap allow Reggie Williams to steal some of the already limited minutes that Jeffery Taylor have in the 2nd quarter. That substitution alone has put the 'Cats in a deeper deficit in almost each of the 8 games played this season. Williams is a negative on this roster. He shouldn't get minutes unless there are multiple injuries or severe foul trouble. I know Dunlap is still in the mist of experimenting what lineups that he think may work or not, but I hope by All-Star Weekend, if they are still in the playoff hunt, that he dwindle down to a 9-man rotation on a nightly basis. Not to mention, using the "'Cats have 9 lives" slogan could work well as a selling moniker. I know I'm reaching, but it does have some legs

looks like an active game thread last night. shame i missed it. i am getting ready to read through all 20 pages, but before i do i wanted to post some thoughts.

- watching the grizzlies friday night and saturday night, i have little doubt in my mind that they are the best defensive team in the league. its took 3 quarters for our players to realize you can half ass a perimeter pass when conley and allen are on the floor. those two are easily the best defensive backcourt in the league.

- the grizzlies starting five is probably good enough to win a championship. their bench will be their Achilles heel. they need a veteran backup pg, a solid 3pt shooting wing and a shotblocker on the bench. i dont think bayless, ellington and speights are the answers.

- i fully expect to read 20 pages of mullens hate in this thread, but i dont think he was at all the problem last night. he took 21 shots last night, which is no doubt a lot, but maybe only 5 of those were bad shots. the bobcats were struggling to score and mullens took the lead by forcing the offense. the guards couldnt get anything going the 1st 3 quarters due to conley and allen. anytime they tried to do anything it resulted in a turnover. mullens was the only one able to get half-decent looks at the rim. mullens did have two awful lazy passes, which he needs to learn from. and while mullens isnt going to win any DPOY awards, he didnt get destroyed by randolph which was a plus.

- kemba was great in the 4th. nice to see him bounce back after a rough first 3 quarters

- gordon had no answers for allen.

- biz played a pretty good game. he was active and all over the place defensively.

- it will be nice when refs realize MKG is THAT good on defense and stop calling him for clean fouls. but until then he needs to dial it back a tad so that he can stay on the floor.

- last year this game would have been a 30 pt blowout. we should be proud of the effort and the fight in that 4th quarter.

- memphis is good. damn good, especially when randolph is 100% and they play inside out with gay at the 3rd option.
