Same here. At least we prepared for this in his contract.

Oh well, more money to re-sign PEK.

Good hustle for Roy tho. Play 3 games = get paid 5 million.

Can we assume this ends the Brandon Roy experiment?

Why is a Portland reporter the first to break the news?!

It could be because Roy and Jason Quick are close friends.

As a Portland fan the Roy story continues to get sadder for me. Roy was too good to deserve this, hopefully he can get back on his feet soon, he will forever remain a hero in Portland and I'm sure both of these fan bases want to see him healthy if at all possible.

So this is a surgery that pretty much ends his season?

Just retire for good man.

And another Kahn failure. When will this guy stop thinking that he can turn water into wine?

Failure? It's obvious it basically a one year deal at this point. It was worth a shot.

I thought kicking the tires on Roy was a great idea also, we had nothing to lose and what were the better options out there, Mayo is the only one who comes to mind and its questionable he was a better option.

Let's not be ridiculous, I hate Mayo as much as the next man, but he was easily a better option than Roy gamble.

I don't know. I got the impression Bill Bayno pushed hard for him and convinced both Adelman and Kahn to give it a shot.

Maybe so. But Kahn so far wanted to turn Darko into Chris Webber, Beas into a guy with good smarts, and Roy into the Bionic Man.

Thank God his knees broke down soon enough that we can probably void the next year.

I'm not mad at giving Roy a shot. He sounds like a great dude and he deserved. It also doesn't hurt us badly. I wanted to go after a guy like Mayo but this is what it is.

Sorry to hear about Roy being hurt. He is a class act and was an amazing player.

I don't see how this was anything but a bad move by Kahn. There is a reason why Roy signed with the Wolves, and it was because Kahn offered him more money than any other team would. The reason why nobody would give him more was because of his knees being so shot.

So really, it wasn't a good move to plan to sign a SG that was really facing the odds to be a full time player, when you could've used that money to pursue a number of options.

I think Kahn really believes that the big risk will merit him the big reward, but really the only guy its worked with has been Rubio. Although Kirilenko looks good and Shved might be something (seems like Rudy Fernandez now), but he paid those guys a ton (again, more than any other team would) to have the right to take the risk.

It's not a great way to build a franchise. But maybe Love can cover up some of the cracks when he returns.
