thankfully this is a civic and ownership issue which has nothing to do with the trade. if Bud tries to veto spurred on f****** social media, Rogers will sue MLB in international court.

I just saw Selig's comments on TSN. He said something along the lines of he had spoke with a handful of baseball experts and they said the Marlins actually got the better of the deal, or that the prospects coming back are really great prospects.

I think comments like that show that 99% chance trade is note vetoed, but you never know until it's all official.

Again, Selig isn't going to veto this deal. He has no good reason to do so and there's no precedent for it. It's going to happen unless an unknown injury is found in one of the players.

At the end of the day I don't think he'll alter the trade or veto it. I'm just concerned that this got out into the media before the review even started and it's already been everywhere and back for this backlash to occur in the first place. Fact of the matter is public opinion should never have any bearing on the legality of a trade and it's clearly affecting far too much already. The fact that Loria is a POS and that he swindled Miami into publicly funding that new arena is their fault and nothing more. It just irks me that the Boston-Dodgers deal went off without a single hitch and if I'm not mistaken it wasn't even announced on MLB.com until it had already been okayed (If I'm wrong then it couldn't have been more than a day to get league approval), where as we're going to have to wait almost a week and Selig says he's going to review it for more than a day? What's worse is the way everyone is framing it as 'potential' or a 'proposed' trade when the Bos-L.A. deal and other blockbusters are considered done deals whether or not they're approved yet; that's the only thing that makes me feel the spectre of a veto. I've just seen too much media manipulation to not fear the way things are framed and fed to the public.

i dont think hell veto it as it would be really bad business, but its certainly within the realm of possibility that he call anthopolous/beaston and say 'hey did you guys look at john bucks back? looks like a trouble spot. you guys wouldnt want to trade for that, would you?' and teh deal gets shelved

I justed watch the video response on mlb.com and Selig said that he would do what he has done with the past cases like this. So I'm guessing the deal will go through just fine like the Bosox salary dump. :) Can't wait for Reyes and to bolster our pitching.

So AA the pitching staff has been decimated by injuries what are you going to do about it?

WOW a 12 player blockbuster deal. Impressive.

So Bautista Lawrie how are you going to feel once this deal is approved either today or tommorow?

Can we just fore-go the season and block off Yonge street for the parade already?

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal
#BlueJays-#Marlins trade still on path to approval. Delay a sign of Selig's anger toward Marlins. MLB worked hard to get new park for club.

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal
Other aspect of delay in #BlueJays-#Marlins approval: Selig is under no time pressure. He can take his time, work through every angle.

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal
To be perfectly clear: I will be shocked if the #BlueJays-#Marlins trade is not approved. And that approval could come as soon as today.

Well that's good news somewhat. I just wish Selig would hurry the hell up and make it official if all 12 players have completed their physicals and the proper paperwork has been fully submitted to the commissioners office.

Loria is a slimeball. Selig should absolutely be looking into the situation..

But instead of looking to reverse the deal, (which would not be fair) what Selig should do is look at what idiot at MLB offices let Loria stay involved with an MLB franchise after Loria's crooked behaviour with the Expos.

I'm certain that if there is an additional leg to this trade, like M.B. getting flipped, it's all on hold and should be executed as soon as the big trade is official.

Edit Confirmed now, we shall see.
