UTAH/TOR Marvin for Calderon

Post#1 » by blackham9258 » Mon Nov 19, 2012 5:01 pm

Utah sends: Marvin Williams & J Tinsley or E Watson (just back from injury)

Tor: Jose Calderon

Jazz fans were so excited in the off-season to finally get a legitimate SF, we have simply never had one... and as it turns out we don't have an offense that can utilize one. It is just sad but in the first free flowing game of the season Marvin scored 21 and led the team in every way... since then we have pounded the ball inside and it is just painful to see him and Gordon Hayward not get any touches.

We are a point guard and post offense and we need to move on to that.

Thoughts?

Kind of makes sense for both teams. Not a game changer but gives the Jazz a solid back up PG who can also play minutes alongside Mo Williams.
Play with the Pass, Play with a Purpose, and Play with Pace along with Obvious Unselfishness....Coach Snyder says the sky is purple than Jazz players say nice purple sky! LONG LIVE THE MAD SCIENTIST!!!!

All for it. Calderon can flat our distribute with the best of them and doesn't make a lot of mistakes.

I kind of like it for us because it is insurance against injury during the season. It is insurance against being held hostage for a large payday by either guy in the off season. I think we could then resign either guy for like 2/$12M total.

And then we could either resign Watson or go after Maynor for 3/$10M or something like that.

Calderon/Maynor for a total of $9M per combined.
or
Williams/Maynor for a total of $9M per combined.

If that mean Burks have PT, then I'm for it.

With the usual premise that Calderon is not as good as his stats might suggest he is, his low-risk game has been a very good fit for the Jazz for some time now. He could basically be what Tinsley is right now, except the fact that he actually knows how to shoot. Lord knows we need a good distributor on this team.

Do you guys not remember all the years of Deron SHREDDING Jose? He's terrible on defense... I think Mo is just as good, if not better than him.

I would say no in the worst way. He is a good player on a bad team, put him on the Jazz and he would look terrible. Marvin is not consistent but he plays smart and I think is always helping his team. No way I do that deal. PGs are easy to find. Jazz have 2 first round picks next year and a bunch of good guards next year. Jazz can get a good one then.
