Didn't know who he was until now, but averaging 8 rebounds at 6-4 :o

He seems like a real hustle guy though but his height scares me a little. We need that prototypical 6-6 guy.

EDIT: Not necessarily NEED but would love to have.

Also sonsider this if Barton can
Develop enough to get minutes next year the two of them would be a ridiculous rebounding backcpurt duo to bring off the bench. Speed, toughness, an attaching mentality. Barton is a good passer/ball handler for a 2 so he could ease Smart's responsibility in that department as well... Just a thought but I think I like Smart more than I liked Beal last year.

I never even heard of Alex Len until a week ago but I would rather have him than Zeller he is a true center with offensive and Defensive capabilities. I hope we don't reel away because of Leonard.

I saw Len against Kentucky.. Didn't see a superstar potential, but he could definitely be a mid/upper tier center. Some nice athletic offensive moves, so maybe I am selling him short.

Noel reminded me a bit of Camby with the way he played defense. Some nice steals out near half court where he used his quick hands to poke the ball away from an unsuspecting defender, and dove to the ground before they could recover. Not great post defense, but a plus defender all things considered.

We could use a rim protector

Another player I'm keeping an eye on is Goodwin. Really like his ability to get to the rim. Kinda reminds me of Spreewell.

Yup, I called him name pretty early (maybe the second best guard in the draft), since he has a very nice looking NBA tool-set. Might be playing himself above where we could draft him though, top 3 potentially.

So, if we finish in top 12 (which I doubt it at this point - there are worse teams) we are looking at 3 picks.

Our own, Minny's second which could be around 45-50, and Boston's second which should be around 50-55.

I personally would like to (realistically) draft:

Archie Goodwin - good scorer; ball handler;
Trevor Mbakwe - good athlete (rebounds/dunks); plays physical
Best available forward preferably a SF
Dammit...:

I've got Nurkic fever now.

Blazers seem to be in pretty good shape with Archie Goodwin, CJ McCollum and BJ Young all potentially in that 10-15 draft zone. All of 3 of these players would be nice scoring/ball handling guards off the bench...probably not alone in saying I'd trade the whole blazer bench (minus leonard) for any one of those players.

Does anyone else find it odd that Trevor Mbakwe was a projected 2nd rounder in last year's draft (with a peak as a very late 1st rounder) until he tore his ACL, but had been considered by some draft sites to be a 1st rounder until fairly recently? (And that's probably giving him the benefit of the doubt and not factoring his past felony assault, harassment, probation violation, and DUI charges into his draft stock).

I've watched Zeller and Len a few times each this year, and I can't understand why Len isn't talked about more. He's been mentioned here a few times, but nationally he seems to get lost in the shuffle. The kid's shown some good post play and, thr thing I love the most, he's HUGE. Lol. Just want to see some more matchups with some big time big men.

I'm already getting draft fever!!!

right now, the Blazers are tied with Indiana for the 8th spot in the lottery. I don't expect the Blazers to end with a better record then Indiana, nor do I really expect them to end up with better records then any of the 21 teams with better records now

on the other hand, the 7 teams worse then Portland look like they will remain so

so, I'd bet on Portland being either 8 or 9 when the lottery rolls around. Very likely to be in the top-10. Less likely to move into the top-7

I don't know about that. It's still crazy early to make any call about the Top 10 (for the most part) imo. Young teams can sometimes go on little runs mid and late season when better teams are coasting.

The teams that I think is clearly locked for a Top 5 pick is Washington. That team is insanely bad. So far, the Raptors (or OKC) looks like they're pretty much destined for a Top 5 pick too.

I'd also say the Kings will probably stay firmly in the Top 5. They're such a wildly selfish team and the franchise is in complete disarray, so I don't expect them to get any better.

I think Cleveland can get on a roll once Irving gets back and gets the rust off. If Varejao stays healthy and keeps playing out of his mind, they're going to be in for a better mid and late season.

I think New Orleans can also get on a roll if/when Davis ever gets healthy. With a healthy Davis, they'll get some surprise wins as the season goes on.

Orlando is a wild-card. It's impossible to tell where that team is going to end up. They won't be a playoff team obviously, but they're potent enough offensively that they can win games that should have no business being in.

Anyhow, I could see the Blazers ending up Top 7 by the time things are done. I don't expect the starting 5 to stay totally healthy all year long and if one of those 5 go down, things are going to get really bad.

I think we're forgetting the fact that it's a lottery. If we end up with the 6th worst record, It's entirely possible we end up with a top 3 pick. That's what I'm hoping for.

the 2007 draft didn't we have the 8th or 6th worst record? :D

2007 draft we had the sixth worst chance, Minnesota had the 7th - we were tied record wise but we won the coin-flip. There is some humor there in that the only reason we were tied is because KG beat us on a buzzer beater in Minnesota earlier in the year.

I think there is a chance we'll end up in a 5-7 position. We have a solid top four to compete each night, but we don't have the depth and road trips for such a young team will be tough.

I think Phoenix and Charlotte could fall below Portland in the standings, actually. The Bobcats had a pretty bad SRS before the OKC beatdown, and they're now second last in the league in SRS.

In his chat today, Chad Ford said Len might wind up the #1 pick in the draft.

Been loving him can't wait to see him come draft day. Reminds me of Roy Hibbert only younger and better along. Blocks rebounds not that great but shows promise can hit the 16 footer with a sweet looking stroke.

Man I don't know why ppl say this draft is weak... Noel, Shabbazz, Len, Zeller, Smart, Mclemore(aka Bradley Beal) BJ young, CJ McColum, Austin, Goodwin, Porter, Poythress, Mitchel,Adams, Caldwell-pope,Gobert.

Plenty for the Blazers to chose from I hope we don't get #1 though too tough to decide and I don't want the NCAA tournament to impact our decision like it did with the last one or like it did with Minnesotas 2nd pick. I hope we get a 3rd overall pick.
