34 year old MVP?

Post#1 » by Dee83 » Wed Nov 21, 2012 6:07 am

I know its still early in the season but Kobe Bryant is putting up MVP type numbers. You think the 34 year old Bryant can keep this up for the rest of the season with the kind of toll that a D'antoni system can put on a players body? One can argue that this man has had too good of a career to only have 1 MVP

Michael Jordan won his last MVP award at the age of 35 in 1998 . :eyebrows:

Seriously though I would love for Kobe to get this award but its somewhat meaningless imo.
We all know whats the real prize.

If the award was to be given out today I would say there are a few players
who are definitely in the discussion with the Mamba.

Chris Paul, Lebron, Melo, and I'd even throw Dwight in the conversation :D

Its obviously way too early to think about this but if Kobe is still at this level and still being very efficient in 20 or so games then i definitely believe he has a shot at winning. The media will be dying to give him it as he only has one MVP at the moment and i think there is still some hatred towards LeBron, so they would love anyone else to get it.

Right now his numbers aren't enough, if he can up them a bit keeping his efficiency hes in with a chance. I also think we're going to see his assists go up because he will be running quite a few pick n rolls this year in d'antonis system, so its achievable.

if he can do 30/5/6 on 50% shooting then hes a lock to win it.

If he keeps up this play all season, he might be the sentimental choice. He's not going to "out stat" Lebron, and Lebron is clearly the better player. I wouldn't mind seeing him steal an MVP considering how many MVP's were stolen from him in his prime.

Seriously, Nash has to give that 06 MVP back.

Kobe is playing great but honestly Dwight is the MVP of this team.

Would love to see it, but would love even more to see Kobe get that 6th ring.

Dwight is carrying the defense by himself, Kobe is carrying the offense

There is no way they will ever give Kobe another MVP award regardless of his performance as long as LeBron (the chosen one) is on the planet breathing he will be "Appointed" MVP!

It would be nice but I really couldn't care less about how many MVP awards Kobe wins, it really is all about rings and it would be great if he finishes his career with 6 or 7

So far Melo has a strong lead in the race imo. After that Durant, now that he has one less star name next to him, Lebron, Kobe and even Duncan have good cases so far. The race will be pretty close this season if all the guys can keep it going well.

Would be astounded if this happened... Not a chance as far as I can see.

Dwight, Nash, and Pau would almost all have to get hurt and Kobe single handedly carry us into the playoffs... With the best record in the league... Averaging a triple double... For them to give him another MVP.

How is Melo leading? If anything the Knicks are winning in spite of Melo playing pretty much at the same level he did last year. Thing look great when you have 2 PGs making the decisions and not Lin and Melo.
