Who was the player of the game vs Washington

Post#1 » by ATL Boy » Thu Nov 22, 2012 3:41 am

Game was too close for comfort, we should've won this one easily but instead we were 0.1 seconds away from falling to 500.

Al Horford (3)
Josh Smith (1)
Kyle Korver (1)

Notes: Josh Smith shot over 50% and had 25 points 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks, it was a really solid game but if we had lose he would've been one of the options for goat of the game, he took 2 bad shots in OT which almost cost us and he also wasted 2 possessions in the dying minutes of regulation; Al Horford was very close to a triple double, he had 15 points, 10 assists, and 9 rebounds, but just like Josh he would've been one of the options for goat of the game because he went an astounding 1-10 from the free throw line, it was just one of those nights I guess; it's obvious why Kyle Korver is on the list, he went 5-12 from the field all of his shots were 3 point attempts and he had the game winning 3 which he shot and hit without hesitation (also props to Nique for calling that Korver's shot would go in before it did), without him we don't win this game; Jeff Teague rounds out the list with a solid 14 points and 7 assists, he was clutch at the end of regulation

What I'd like to see: I'd like to see Al hit his Free Throws but I'm sure that this was just a bad night and that he'll bounce back. I'd like to see Josh actually put it on the floor and not take stupid jump shots in key situations. I'd like to see Lou Williams playing in the 4th and OT (0 minutes in the 4th and in OT is unbelievable) he's our best 4th quarter player. We need to run a 4th quarter lineup of:
PG: Teague
SG: Lou
SF: Korver
PF: Josh
C: Al

Teague ran the offense beautifully. If we'd shoot better, he'd have had more assists. He got anywhere he wanted to on the court and he kept making smart decisions. Smith and Horford made most of the music but Teague set the beat.

Only caught OT where Josh put up some bad shots. he also led the Hwks with 6 turnovers.
AL missed some pretty big free throws in the clutch.

Teague looked pretty good running the offense. Once Iso-Josh left, Teague and Horford ran a pretty effective two-man game. But AL's gotta hit those FTs. His career numbers are around 75% from the line. This season he's around 67%.

Josh has to make better decision's with the ball in crunchtime, he's the Hawks best player, for better or worse. He gets my vote for Player of the Night leading the team in both Points and Rebounds while shooting over 50% from the field.

I'd like to see: an extended stretch where both Josh & Al play well together.
I'd like to see Morrow get more consistent PT. Shooters need to get into a rhythm, just 15-20 mpg.
Looks like Drew is beginning to settle on a rotation, won't complain about Lou sitting in the 4th as we've begged for Teague to close out games for weeks.

Still hoping Ferry clears up the glut at SG and trades a guy or two for a SF.

Voted for Korver because if he doesn't hit that final shot we lose, if he does we win, simple as that, he wasn't afraid of the big shot and I admire that, but everyone on the list is deserving and there's no wrong answer to who you pick.

Teague, Josh, and Korver all had great games. i keep shaking my head about Horford, almost a triple double, but just an absolutely sloppy game by Al, i'm starting to think that Horford will never have a break out year.

Teague, Horford, Smith and Korver all had solid games in certain areas but failed badly in one area that hurts the rest of their contributions.

Korver was worked on the boards all night by Trevor Ariza who ended up with 15 boards (4 offensive)

Horford was 1/10 from the line

Smith played his tail off for most of the game but made a few bad decisions down the stretch.

Teague did a good job of setting up the offense and getting people open looks but he struggled from the field going 6/18.

I think I would give it to Harris by default since he had the highest point differential at +19. He had a solid game in all areas.
