Notable Free Agents?

Post#1 » by EvilSperm » Thu Nov 22, 2012 9:36 am

We can sure use some fresh legs out there on the court... why don't the lakers go after these players:

SG-Maurice Evans,Delonte West,
Sf- Renaldo Balkman, Donte Greene, Bill Walker
PF-Kenyon Martin

i bet any of these guys would play for the minimum? isn't it worth a try?

Mo Evans? Seriously? LA doesnt need Kmart and the other guys outside of West were struggling to get minutes on avg to bad teams.

Imo the bench is all that stands between Kobe and his 6th ring. Delonte West would be a great pick up. Meeks finally showed up which is also encouraging. Need quality mins at sg to keep Kobe rested for another title run

The bench would be fine if Jamison could hit wide open shots and Meeks could play like he did last night consistently. I think if we had a healthy Nash last night we would have won and I'm pretty sure Dwight would have had more than 2 points in the first half.

Pietrus really isnt needed. The guy at this point is a legit 3 and is an average shooter at best. The athleticism and defense we know him for went down the drain 2-3 years ago. Just let him go.

Youth at the vets min would do nothing for this team...

A head case like West may help, but his potential benefits don't out weigh his issues. there is a reason the guys mentioned in this thread aren't on NBA teams.

What evidence do you based this off of. When has West's production or on court play ever been an issue to a team. This Dallas issue is the only NBA issue we've seen him have. No other bad reports of dude being a bad teammate. No facts have been released regarding him being waived. In the end if he can give LA the production he gave Cleveland and Dallas the bench would look great.

Last I checked this is 3 seasons (or 3 out of 4) in a row with non-basketball related issues that affected his basketball play. This is a guy with a diagnosed mental disorder (bipolar I believe?) who was kicked off a team this year for repeated emotional outbursts, suspended last year for something I don't remember and caught with weapons the year prior. (I may be off a year or two but I'm on my phone and am not date checking). I'd also say it's (with no real evidence) 50:50 that he actually did **** Lebrons mom (or tried to at least).

Just because his stats are fine doesn't mean his presence is valuable.

But how dare I say he may not be worth it for 10 minutes a game!

The Lebron thing was deaded by him months ago and he stated it was false. He was suspended a game for poking Gordon Heyward in the ear which was an overreaction compared to alot of the stuff we see. Other than that he's never been a liability to a team. He balled and produced on every single team he played on. If anything the odds of MWP doing something crazy and effecting the team are much higher than West. The dude is head and shoulders above any FA that we could possibly pick or play off our current bench.

The suspension I was thinking of was in response to his weapon charges (10 games). His own coach said Delonte's ear poking was unacceptable and it is childish. Google his name and read the bizarre things he posts on Twitter. He seems crazier than MWP w/o a psychologist. as I said earlier, there is a reason he isn't on a roster right now and hasn't stuck with a team in the past 5 years.

I agree we need backcourt depth, but I'd rather bank on Jodie, D Mo and Ebanks becoming more consistent (although I realize Meeks probably wont ever defend with much tenacity). And I'm not a huge Ebanks fan either, but prefer him over throwing $2-2.5 (2x vet min) mil on a likely distraction.

What our team needs most is consistency and if we sign someone they need to come in, be quiet and play hard.

How about Terrence Williams? Low risk, high reward? I think Delonte, Pietrus and T-Will can help us.
