Cesar Izturis. A John McDonald type who wasn't even good when he was good (an All-Star in 2005 when he had an OPS+ of 66) and played 46 games for the organization as a rookie in 2001. I doubt he'll be on the MLB roster considering the presence of M. Izturis and Bonifacio.

I had greater hopes for Felipe Lopez. But JP had to come and get rid of all of Gord Ash's guys.

After all these years he's still 32?

He's to born in the same year as Maicer, interesting.

Mods lock 'er up! False rumor. From Ken Rosenthals twitter account:

OK everyone, I hear you that the Izturis guy is a fake. You can relax now and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

One of the game's nice guys. RT @CesarIzturis: Can you tell the fans that i have signed with Toronto.

No, he actually signed. The account was fake, though.

Oh I didn't know that. After seeing the tweet and no verification on bluejays.com I just assumed.

I remember that deal. It had been rumoured the Jays were interested in either Prokopec or Eric Gagne

Isn't that what the wizards are called in the Tolkien LOTR books?

Not sure, but if the three of them don't arrive at an introductory press conference on the backs of some sort of flying hellbeast, I'll now be disappointed.

On Thursday a Blue Jays official told Sportsnet 590 The Fan the team has not signed Cesar Izturis. A short while later, Sportsnet's Shi Davidi learned the truth was the Blue Jays had actually signed another Izturis brother, in this case 23-year-old Julio.

From the same article:
The source of the Cesar report -- Matt Eddy of Baseball America -- and the rationale behind the signing, both seemed credible, especially given the Blue Jays' lack of organizational depth in the middle infield.

As a result, several media outlets -- including Sportsnet.ca -- ran with the story.

Then things simply got weird.

I guess it's impossible to tell the difference between the Izturii.
