The Pau Bandwagon (PG. 26, Meets D'Antoni to clear air)

Post#1 » by TruSkool » Sat Nov 24, 2012 4:11 am

I think his time here with the lakers is coming to an end. I've always been one of his biggest supporters and I still honestly think he's the 2nd best PF in the league behind only Dirk, but this is the 3rd season that he's showing a decline in performance.
A lot of you were hard on Lamar Odom back in the day too but I stuck by his side as well. As great of a player and achievements Gasol has, I'm starting to wonder if his time in LA closing in on him. He's a genuine dude and he loves to play for the lakers, i remember he had this huge "sigh of relief" video when the CP3 trade fell through, and I remember his choke job started about 2.5 years ago when his girlfriend broke up with him. Ever since then, he hasn't been the same Pau we saw in the 2010 finals when he almost single handedly made the Lakers repeat champions.
It'll be tough to find a replacement for him, and I quite honestly don't think we will get anything near fair value for him, but I'm expecting Kupchak to move him by the end of this year.
It just sucks to see how great of a player he is when he plays for Spain in the olympics, and you start to think the guy is back to his self, but before he puts on a Laker jersey, he showers himself with gasoft water.
On the flip side, he's still a HOF'er.

I don't know what's wrong with him.

Seems like he isn't even trying hard, like he is giving up on the Lakers. He is not blocking out, running the floor nor helping out on defense. His offense looks non existant, looking to defer rather than attack. He is not playing hard.

Pau maybe has given up on the team, and wants to be traded.

PS , unless he's playing hurt, which I don't think he is.

nope, no way he wants to be traded. I just think he's satisfied with a couple rings and like kobe said, "coasting" along for a paycheck.

I'd love for him to get traded just so his insanely good sets of post skills don't get wasted.
But for what is worth, he's playing with bursitis in his shooting hand, per Lakers reporter @mcten.

So he is also injured? That makes sense.

He actually looked great in the Princeton but then again he can be hot and cold when he has to shoot from 10-15 ft.

I'm sad to say this but his role has to be defined a lot better or else we should move him and invest in Dwight getting all the post touches.

In short, Nash being out has created a big hole in our rotations and we can only run with Morris and Duhon for so long before it bites us up the ass.

pau is always the one being asked to adjust his game the most and always the one to get hated on when it doesn't go smoothly. just hate how pau gets treated by this fan base. same deal with LO back in the day.

I would more like to know what the Lakers are doing to Dwight Howard. Why is this guy only getting 7 shots? Maybe it isn't JUST Pau, maybe the D'Antoni system simply isn't working for this team. Lakers looked better under Bickerstaff.

Even if a role is defined for Pau on the offensive end that allows him to be more efficient he still sucks on the defensive end. He was abused repeatedly in the first half of this game tonight.

Other teams have figured out out leak and that leak is we canno effectively play physical basketball. Pau is a pussy and anytime there's any contact between D12 and anybody Dwight is being tagged with the foul. Metta'a poor rep and Kobe being treated like a step child doesn't help us either.

This year teams have been allowed to play far more physically than we've been allowed to play. As long as that continues we're not going anywhere.

Why does it matter that Pau's a grown man? If he is he should play like one, period.

He was breasting in the Olympics because the coach was actually smart by having a offense that was built around his skillet instead of having a run and gun offense that doesn't?? If he gets traded, trust me.. He would put up his usual numbers again.

I have to agree though even though his words are a bit harsh, Pau is probably the softest player in the NBA bar none. NO debate whatsoever, he is the softest European player in the league without a question. He should be playing tennis, not basketball.

I just want Pau to bring it every night. He's too talented, like Lamar Odom, not to.

A little bit of effort won't hurt. I'm still OUTSIDE the bandwagon looking it. Let's go Pau!
