... the Yankees will keep losing and then the front office (whoever that is) will be forced into trading away the Yankees youth for a run at the World Series that will probably fall short of winning it all?
I know I am. The Yankees farm system is a few years from being something truly special, but the Yankees are terrible right now, commensurate with payroll. Then, there is the attitude that winning championships is the only thing that matters each season, instead of building a team whose indiviudal peaks coencided like Bernie Williams, Derek Jeter, Paul O'Neill, Tino Martinez, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettite and Mariano Rivera and picking up guys like Joe Girardi, Jim Leyritz, David Cone, David Well, Scott Brosius, El Duque, etc. That's what got the Yankees to where they are in the first place and George's impulses can't get the better of this team, regardless of this season's outcome.
