history repeating?
remember a few years ago. the suns tried a experiment with hedo.
it did not last long till they found out that it was not a good fit.
i have the same feeling about beasley. ok you can tell me, that it is still early in the season and that we should give them time to develop. trading hero, richardson and clark got us gortat. maybe we can pack up beasley with an other player and get something valuable back.
this not personal against beasley. it seems like history repeating.

Re: history repeating?
We'd probably have to give up assets to get rid of Beasley and I don't want to do that. The other option would be to take on another teams bad contract. I wouldn't want to do that either.

that year we gave up richardson. and when we look back, suns won that trade easily. but you are right, it should not be a panic move.

I'm hoping this team is the 01-03 team before we get some quality players and start running SSOL with Dan Majerle as our coach.

Re: history repeating?
In the sense that we are not using our players to their strengths? Yes!!
Beasley is not a freaking 3. He is an Antawn Jamison-esque 4. He will never be a great small forward. We picked up Scola (as I understood it), to be a super-sub. Playing them together makes no sense (unless you play Scola at center, and Beas at 4, when Gortat is resting).
Playmaking has been a problem. Dragic is a decent playmaker (though I see him more as a 2)....he is no KJ, Nash, Kidd, or even Marbury. That's okay. We need another playmaker in the starting lineup. If we played Beasley at 4, and had him distribute from the post, I think we would be okay (as long as he has 3 point shooters around him). I am in favor of starting Marshall with Dragic. I think we would get some great ball movement, and more open shots. Outside of Gortat, and Dragic, everyone is having career low years in shooting percentage.....Again, I believe this to be playmaking.
3 point shooters (or lack thereof). Dudley is a very good 3 point shooter (historically). He the only player on our team to shoot over 40% from downtown in a season. He is our least athletic player, and we play him at the position that requires athleticsm the most.
Which brings me to athleticsm.....
We are lacking the athletiscm to run people out of the building. Dudley is too slow to be a shooting guard. This was masked last year by Grant Hill's perimeter D. It's quite apparent now. Scola is one of the least athletic starting 4's in the league. Beasley is somewhat slow as a small forward. Dragic and Gortat are solid.
The pieces don't fit. I wonder how much longer we will be square players in round holes.....

Re: history repeating?
Beasley tries to make things that he does not know. He CAN NOT get a rebound and try to be Lamar Odom or Magic Jhonson, because he is not that good. Period. I think he does not understand that.
He is great at 2 or 3 things in offense and he has to make that things all the time, but he wants to be an "all around player", but he is not because he lacks a lot of skills to be that type of player.
Jamison knows his strengths very well and he is at least a decent defender....Beasley is a horrible defender ( like a small forward or power foward, but even worse at 3).
Good comparison with that Hedo experiment.

Beasley's 24, Hedo was 30. Beasley's contract is around 6 million over 3 years with the third year partially guaranteed while Hedo was just coming off the first year of a 5(?) year 60 million contract or so...I think we can still get good value back in a Beasley trade straight up.

Hedo can still do a few things that can help a team, he was just ridiculously overpaid. Beasley can only do one thing (score) and he does that inefficiently too, so I don't see how any teams would give us anything of positive value for Beasley.

Beasley is still injured. It's not fair to say that the experiment failed til he gets healthy and then still sucks.

How does a finger injury effect his effot (not to mention his defense) on the court?

Like babby said, beasyl is a puzzle to solve. Meaning we couldn get him if he was already star.
I do think that we should try to play him at pf

Minnesota tried to move Beasley last year, the best offer they could get was Jeff Blake's awful contract, and that was while he only had a few million left on his contract. Most teams know what Beasley is, a disruption on both ends of a court with no true position. Beasley cant be moved easily. And the Suns will likely need to pair him with something else to give him away. And really, even pairing him with one of the Lakers picks might not be enough because I dont see many teams wanting Beasley on their roster regardless of the contract.
We got really luck in the Hedo trade that Orlando had one of the dumbest GMs of all time.

Its seems like there's only one logical suns fan on this board. Beasley still has put together the two best suns performances this season, the Bobcats statline and the game against the Nuggets. I would give him time to recover from his injury, and if he still is shooting a low percentage, then fine trade him but try to unload Dudley too the guy may be likeable but hes gone down the white mamba route.

I have seen you post this before. Who is Jeff Blake? The old Bears QB?

The Nugget game? He scored 16 points on 15 shots and did nothing else, he was benched for the rally because, as usual, the Suns were playing better without him.
And while his rebounding in the Bobcat game was a nice change from the norm, he shot 7-21!
The finger excuse is a joke. The guy has always stunk. His finger isnt making him an abomination on defense and is not forcing him to jack up idiotic shots against double teams. His problem is that he is a really really dumb player, and unless his brain is in his pinky that isnt going to change.
He is absolutely killing us on both ends of the court with every minute he plays this year, to think its all because of his pinky is insane. We keep having to make these ridiculous comebacks from deficits that ALWAYS come with him on the court. Its unfair to the rest of our starters to be burdened with his awful play.

Yea man thanks. Some people are just hating on him because of his prior experience with Miami and Minnesota. But people need to understand that this is a complete fresh start for him. We have to treat him the same way we would to a rookie. We have to pretend like this is his first season in the NBA. We need to give him a chance to show us what he has when he's 100% healthy.

If he was a rookie then he'd be riding the bench and having to earn his way onto the court rather than being thrown into the fray.
But you do have one thing right, the only way to think Beasley might be anything but awful requires a lot of "pretend".

lol always funny when someone's name is mentioned and it's like a totally different name

But yeah, I'm with you 100% on Beasley. His mediocre basketball IQ will be with him for the rest of his career regardless of how much hard work he puts in.

Re: history repeating?
He needs a disciplinarian as a coach who works with him and coaches him up...that is not Gentry. Beasley is a head case, its pretty obvious, but he can be productive if they can get him mentally ready. At least he is a relatively cheap gamble.
