Is love just empty stats?

Post#1 » by darbstar » Sun Nov 25, 2012 6:09 am

i dont get to see any twolves games, and was just wondering if Kevin love is a glorified empty stat maker? The twolves were hot before love returned and since his return he has put up great numbers yet the wolves are 0-3 . Loves stats have been great the last few years but it hasn't done anything for getting wins. It seemed as though the team played as a team sharing the ball without him, yet when he is there he has to try to be the man! I may be way of but just wanted to know ppls thoughts???? I think I'd prefer a kirelenko, garnet, Ibaka type players over love as they do it on both ends and play within the team

I reckon wolves could have got harden and Ibaka for love considering how highly rated love is(throw in whoever else u want). Imagine trying to score on Ibaka and kirelenko with harden and Rubio in the backcourt and pek up front wow

Don't get me wrong I love Love but he's no KG. KG carried our team to the playoffs but Love can't. I don't know why but he just can't shoulder the load like many elites can.

The answer is NO. Look at the box score and tell me what NBA player is winning with a starting backcourt that put up 2 points tonight

Then what are you referring to? Every Superstar needs help. How you think Blake Griffin would do in LA if there was no CP3. Did you see the season when Kobe lost Shaq and didn't have Pau yet? Or when Wade was by himself? It isn't easy. I know for sure that this team's most important player is Rubio. Rubio guards people like Curry. Love need help and right now he's got 2 guys in AK and Pek that help him. The rest of the team is nowhere to be found

I'd take both Rubio and kirelenko over love in my team. They both effect a game much more than love without having to shoot anywhere near as much as him. So to say every superstar needs help when in my eyes he's the third best player or third most effective player on the team is strange

We also had Roy and Bud then. While Roy didnt play so hot, he was racking up a ton of assists finding the open man. We desperately need Bud back for his shooting and movement without the ball. That is what is killing us right now. None of our wings can hit a jumper to save their life.

Pek
Love
AK
Bud
Shved

We'd definitely have a better record with that lineup

Not empty but I'll say this. Kirilenko is the opposite. He plays ten times better than his line might look after the game.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

I dont think you understand the concept of a team game. A team's offense can't function well if none of the wings can hit an open jumper. How the hell is Love supposed to do anything about that?

What Love provides is efficient scoring, excellent rebounding and excellent spacing. Right now that excellent spacing is being wasted because none of our wings can hit a shot. If Budigner was healthy he would be making those shots. Love benefits budigner and Budigner benefits Love and Pekovic (from preventing people from clogging up the lane since none of the wings can hit a shot)

We probably would be more effective since right now we are completely incompetent at shooting. Going from complete incompetence to good shooting will be more effective than going from good post play/mid range/rebounding (dante and Pek) to great (Love). But again, thats not Love's fault. You're blaming him for our horrific wing play right now and thats simply not fair since NBA calibre players should be able to hit open shots

Then you shouldnt have brought up how we were doing before Love came back since that definitely does bring Bud and Roy into the conversation

He's just come back early from injury and he's playing his first couple of real NBA games in 6 months, without Rubio setting him up. Give him time.

Of course Love isn't on a Garnett level. But even KG needed guys around him (in Boston) to win. So does everyone else.

Love is a great player, but since he's not an out of this world defender or iso scorer, he is obviously a little more reliant than other great stars on having talent around him. That being said, his style also has many advantages (easy to plug in anywhere) and when the Wolves FO take some more steps to improve the roster, Love should and will be a part of it.
