Baseball, more than any other sport (except maybe the NFL) is all about streaks. As long as you make the playoffs, anybody can win. Great lineups often lose. Weak lineups often win.

On paper, just looking at the lineup, I'd say the Jays are a top 5 "favorite" to win the WS. It's a capable lineup, with a bunch of capable players. On offense, you have a good balance of speed and power. With pitching, you have 3 probably under-4.00 ERA guys (Johnson, Morrow, Buerhle), 1 sort-of-wildcard (Romero) and Happ who's just as likely to suck as he is to do okay. You now have some guys with winning experience, some guys in their prime without much winning experience, and some good young players.

Looking back on the last 10 WS Champions, I would think maybe 3 or 4 of them were top 3 "favorites" to win before the season started. So yes, this current lineup is definitely capable to win the WS... then again, so are about 10 or more other teams.
Good Lord, the little stoner's got a point.

Do you think Vegas is overrating this team or are we really capable of winning a championship next season with this roster?

One more impact move and we prolly have the best roster on paper.

Vegas odds have no co-relation to how well Vegas oddsmakers think the team will do, or the likelihood that they'll win the WS. Vegas odds are only co-related to how Vegas thinks the gamblers will bet, and what would ensure a most even (and thus guaranteed profit) bet distribution.

So of course the team most recently in the news (and thus on the minds of betters) is going to be given tight odds. But to think that it relates to how well Vegas thinks they'll do is foolish.
