Report: Kaepernick named starting quarterback

Post#1 » by Mamba Mentality » Thu Nov 22, 2012 5:58 am

According to Sports Illustrated's Jim Trotter, head coach Jim Harbaugh has named Colin Kaepernick the 49ers' starting quarterback.

Trotter reports that Harbaugh informed Alex Smith of the decision, and it has nothing to do with health. All signs pointed to this being the case after Harbaugh refused to commit to Smith following Monday night's thrashing of the Bears. Kaepernick showed off his underrated passing skill set in the victory and made some throws that Smith wouldn't even typically be asked to attempt. Kaepernick has QB1 upside in fantasy while Alex Smith was no more than a high-end QB2 on a good day. Smith can be dropped in all fantasy leagues. Kaepernick has a date with New Orleans' league-worst defense on Sunday.

This has so much potential to explode in Harbaugh's face.

Dude is the real deal! Only time and experience is needed. But ive seen the dude in many of his collegiate games, for those of you located on the east coast . . . he played for Nevada. Who? exactly. You have to be a die hard junky football fan like me to watch these late nite nobodies play on the west coast. However, his final year they made some noise against a good boise state team. AND DUE WAS CLUTCH!

49ers are a quality bet. However, the Ravens will have something to say about that!

Ravens-Niners was my preseason pick, but not feeling as confident about Ravens. Flacco not making the jump i expected from him.

Our offense has a whole new look and feel to it with Kaep at the wheel...his ability to throw the deep ball opens up a whole new section of the playbook for us, and his ability to move around/out of the pocket and avoid pass rushers is pretty incredible.

Poor Alex though...he puts up with being in a terrible situation for years, then finally starts to settle in to a groove and gets usurped by a second year guy after getting concussed. Life ain't fair.

or quite possibly . . . he has finally repaid his debt to the 9ers fans and their organization, and now . . . its time to part ways.

He tore the Bears' defense apart, and he looked good last night, but he just didn't seem to have the same confidence throwing the deep ball like he did against the Bears. He came back down to earth.

And as for it being unfair to Alex Smith, life's a *****.

If Kaepernick remains the starter in SF they are my pick for NFC Champs. If Alex Smith is starting, I think they lose in the divisional round to a team that can outscore them like the Packers or Falcons.

Don't cry for Alex Smith. He could have gone elsewhere (MIA, ARI) but chose to stay in SF on a quick deal. He'll get paid this offseason by another team looking for a starter to groom a rookie, be it PHI or KC or NYJ or maybe even MIN. Assuming BAL re-ups Flacco, Smith is the top QB on the market this year.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

Incoming terrible article in 3... 2...

http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2 ... ract-draft
San Francisco’s Colin Kaepernick is going to be a big-time NFL quarterback. That must make the guys in San Quentin happy.

Approximately 98.7 percent of the inmates at California’s state prison have tattoos. I don’t know that as fact, but I’ve watched enough “Lockup” to know it’s close to accurate.

I’m also pretty sure less than 1.3 percent of NFL quarterbacks have tattoos. There’s a reason for that.

I almost can't believe someone actually put this into words....basically saying that because quarterbacks are the leaders of the team, they need to look/act white. Not to mention that his tattoos are freaking bible verses and by all accounts Colin is a perfectly upstanding citizen.

I never liked changing quarterbacks in the middle of a season. It's a risky move. Harbaugh better have his guys together for this to keep working.

Looking pretty good right now...

There's no way the Niners win against the Pats with Alex Smith at QB. He simply couldn't make those throws.
