Gotta love Reggie, its sometimes hard to believe how easily available he was (in FA two years in a row) and how his value is much more than what he is paid. It's not just the on the court production, he seems to be a really good influence off the court on our young players too. Turning out to be a great signing.

I'm just so happy we aren't seeing Deron and CJ together anymore.

I'm not really confident Avery can design an offense where Gerald Wallace is not completely useless... He still looks a bit slow compared to Game 1 so I'm not going to throw this all on Avery, but he's just out of sorts right now.

At least we know Wallace will bring it on defense, can't wait to see him go at Fatmelo tomorrow.

I would say who cares, but he does similar stuff in crucial moments as well lol.

I just don't understand how they don't coach him up and keep him on a short leash? He's played a lot better then I thought he would in general, but it's not like he's straight tearing it up where he should have no accountability.

Like those 2(2 in one game!) behind the back hotdog pass turnovers in the last game? And then still left him out there, didn't even scold him?

How can Tele be put in the doghouse so fast without knowing anything about him and Blatche is literally allowed to go all superstar freelance 24/7 power forward Ginobili style with no consequences?

He's an in game swing enigma. He'll block a shot, pull down some big time boards, good outlet pass, a solid finish and then a decent one dribble face up move during some 14 to 3 run in the 1st half, but then at some random other point later in the game he'll go all Tim Hardaway from 20 feet away and turn the ball over then not get back on D on the break, chuck up an awful smothered circus shot, throw an errant pass out of bounds and pick up a couple awful fouls during a 11-2 run by the opposition that gets them back in it or loses our lead entirely without Avery even thinking about stage-hooking him.

I know it's a work in progress, but it's frustrating. If you don't have accountability and you don't teach and drill the bad habits out of his head it will just continue.

And at what point do you say, we have to see Tele in game, for some extended minutes? Throw him into different situations? And if we don't have any minutes for him, let him be showcased and stir up some league wide trade interest. And I'm not saying at the cost of losing games, but there's no way you can close the book on this guy after a literal handful of NBA minutes. Is he just an epic abomination in practice where they know there's no hope?

Yeah, I agree.

I think it goes back to things:

1) Avery likes fixing failed projects
2) Since we don't have another C, whenever Lopez gets in trouble, he'd rather see Blatche as a center out there rather than two PFs

I can somewhat understand reason #2, but reason #1 is precisely why Blatche can do whatever he wants, but Brooks and Tele get no burn cuz they've been relatively successful for their careers.

MarShon was on the 2nd All-Rookie team and Tele is an international superstar, and therefore some reason, he gives them no grace for mistakes. But Blatche, "the Prodigal Son" (if you will), gets a free past because Avery is trying to show that Blatche can get 2nd chance...after 2nd chance....after 2nd chance lol.

Like you said, Avery is not doing us any good by letting Blatche continue to develop bad habits and not punishing him for doing so, but when Tele or MarShon make one mistake, they go straight back to the bench.

Although, I do think Tele is on the bench because his defense is so poor. But Josh Childress isn't a monster on the offensive or defensive end. Tele should be given at least a few of Childress' minutes when the 2nd unit comes in with their 'no offense' lineup.

LoL at VC for wanting the 6'10 chucker who can't rebound and can't defend.

In VC's book, it is apparently OK to be a one-dimensional chucker as long as you're not a guard. But if you're someone like Hamilton or Mirza, it's OK....

I'm not the biggest Avery fan but I was pretty happy with the rotations yesterday.

1. Marshon got some time and I expect him to play more since JJ can't play 38 mpg.
2. Stuck with KB and Marshon when they played well
3. Deron and CJ didn't play together
4. No bench unit without Deron or JJ

Random:
1. The team played really, really crisp ball on offense and defense during the 4th. JJ needs to punish smaller guards inside. I love posting JJ up just because he does a great job of handling double teams and making the right decisions.
2. I love what Blatche brings to this team. He rebounds really well on offense and defense. He gets to the line a ton. He has face up skills that centers don't see ever. Avery really needs to punish him for his bad decisions. His shooting percentage is unacceptable for a guy playing 20 mpg. His TOs are normally careless and he turns into a ball stopper at times. If Avery doesn't trust Mirza, he needs to play Hump at center when Blatche is being boneheaded. In spurts, I'm sure Reggie/Hump would work.
3. Gerald Wallace REALLY needs to start finishing inside. This guy has no elevation at all anymore, it's crazy. He's still a good player but he doesn't try and dunk anything. He missed a ton of easy shots yesterday, we can't have that on a regular basis. I think he's much better on offense when he's at PF or when he's posting up SFs. (considering he's the 4th best post option, I doubt we'll see much of that). He's going to have to get his points in transition and off cuts. I do LOVE what he brings on defense. He gambles a lot but it seems to really disrupt the other team. Really enjoy watching him turn defense into offense.
4. Deron clearly came out in that 2nd half with a purpose. He took the shooting sleeve off, clearly annoyed at his nagging injuries and at the rookie he was matched up with. His 2nd half stats weren't mindblowing but he really took control of the game. He got anywhere he wanted (even if he couldn't always finish), made plays for his teammates, got Lillard in foul trouble, and really quarterbacked the team. He's not always going to be pissed but he has to come out like that all the time. Deron controlling the team is always a good thing. I'm happy with how he distributed the ball yesterday. Really spread it out. Finally knocked down his 3s too after struggling to knock down anything in the first half.
