I want to see this Wizards team become part of the national conversation as the worst in NBA history. Seems to me that shaming Leonsis into making changes is probably the only chance this franchise has.

I don't think it'll happen. While Nivek's analysis was presented with tongue firmly in cheek, it is indeed notable that we are the best 0-11 team in history going by on/off differential. The fact is, the team stays in games and never gets blown out. The addition of one talented player could make a huge difference. We have that one talented player in Wall. If Wall is worth just 1 point a game (and he is surely worth more), those 3 overtime losses would have been regulation wins. With Wall and Nene, that 3-point loss to Boston would probably have been a win. Wall would probably have been good for one or two other wins elsewhere in the schedule. So instead of 0-11, we'd be at least 4-7 and probably more like 5-6.

Assuming Wall and Nene play around 50 or so games I don't expect them to finish with the worst record either, but they can certainly enter the conversation by besting the Nets NBA worst start.

By my estimation, the Wizards "should have" won 3 games so far this season -- based on what they've produced against the teams they've faced. With Wall adding +1ppg, by my back of the envelope calculation, Wiz would add 0.3 to the "should have won". So -- 3.3 wins.

I don't think they'll set a record for the longest losing streak to open a season, but then I wasn't expecting 0-11 either.

If Nene was still out i think wizards could go 0-18 but Nene is a game changer but i do expect spurs to win tonight.

The team is completely different when Nene is on the floor. He is great at passing out of the high post... Still, we are going to get crushed tonight.

Nivek wrote:Over at basketball-reference, they give the Spurs a 63% chance of winning, which is actually a closer matchup than I'd have expected. Probably because it's a back-to-back road game for the Spurs.

I think the Wizards have a realistic chance of getting to 0-22 based on how they've played so far. The most winnable upcoming game for them is number 18 -- a road game against the Hornets. Maybe Wednesday night -- home game against Portland.

I don't smoke but if I did, i would have a victory cigar, a la Red Auerbach on hand--with a lighter just in case.

I believe the Wizards are going to win and I've been on a hot streak lately. It's a shame I don't gamble. :)

This, plus they rebound well and they shoot a lot of threes, which can make or break a team. If Nene plays and enough threes drop, the Wizards will win IMO.

I am scared of Blair rebounding well, Mills going off, or somebody like Gary Neal going off. I do not expect "Timmy" or Parker to kill the Wizards. Manu could, but he's been quiet lately. I think this is one the Wizards can win because the Spurs are missing Leonard and Stephen Jackson, and they are on the B-2-B game win. They cannot help but relax some for this game.

Nivek, i agree the Wizards could/should have 3 wins. Also, I think with Nene they're a .400-.500 team if Witt plays the right guys.

I want to see more of Webster tonight. Just don't even play Vesely, Witt. Dude is turrible to quote Barkley...

WP48 says we should have won 3.5 games so far -- 3-8 or 4-7. Lets assume it was 12 games and we were 4-8.

Trying to put the utter misery of the last 4 weeks out of your mind, and trying not to frame it as "we don't have our two best players", would you be happy to see the Wizards, in year 3 of being completely rebuilt, with a 4-8 record? I.e. heading for 27 wins?

Would you be happy that our roster is so sucky that w/ 2 guys out we were a .333 team?

I didn't think so.

I've been predicting wins for the last week, and all I've gotten is close. I've got moral victories. Tonight, no way -- I'm not predicting a win tonight. Predicting 0-12.

The only caveat is this: if Singleton plays 30+ minutes we'll have a shot to win late in the 4th quarter (i.e. he'll be playing really well, if you see what I mean).

I don't see how we have a chance. We will lose by 30.

No Nene which is what I expected.

Why use him up on these next few games. Bring him back with Wall.
