Re: Trade Targets
How about MarShon Brooks for Gerald Henderson if he's healthy?

Re: Trade Targets
Brooks and Tele have near zero trade value because they're out of teh rotation One could argue that we are winning more games by going with veteran defensive minded players, but no doubt they havent really been given much chance to prove themselves. Averys gotta play em, its not all about Ws and Ls, we gotta field the best team we can come playoffs or in this case the trade deadline.
I like Nene. He's big, a great passer, good all around defender (at p n rolls too) and we can probably get him just for Hump in a 3 team deal

Yeah of the two truly realistic bigs out there, I like Nene or Millsap.
And MarShon should still have trade value to get a player like Henderson who's good but not great and relatively close to his ceiling and has restricted free agency looming with a team that would prefer to not clog it's cap for a guy who's quite repetitive to the two swings they just drafted.
If we brought in one of Nene or Millsap for something like Hump and maybe a 1st round pick and then Henderson for MarShon and Childress, I think those could be two enormous moves for this team for the present and long term.

Re: Trade Targets
I like Millsap a lot but I don't see anyway to get him, even if we throw in 1st rounders. Nene is at that point where he's too old to play for a non-contender, and has that big contract. If we turn Hump around for expirings we can probably nab him. Millsap himself is an expiring so theres really no reason for the Jazz to let him go unless they really don't want to keep him.

Re: Trade Targets
I don't see anyway Utah keeps Millsap or wants to at the price it'll cost them to retain him.

Re: Trade Targets
Is it me being a homer, or is Nene realistic? Why would the Wizards want to keep him after the season they are having as a team. Don't they have to go fire-sale and Nene would probably be the hardest player for them trade given the contract.

Nene is very realistic. By all counts including common sense.
Also a certain someone told a certain someone who told me that Nene is someone that is still on the Nets radar and has a chance of happening. There is still mutual interest between Nets - Nene - Agent, I imagine Washington would be the wildcard and things are seeming to line up well for that.
The real question is... is Nene going to be healthy?

So what? Nene for Hump and Brooks?

Something like that. Speculative stuff, but you can say with some whispers of truth.

Re: Trade Targets
He's worth the risk I think, as long as we don't have to give anything else up. If the Wiz continue losing that should be doable. He missed one season and since then no major injuries. Time missed during 07-08 was due to cancer. Either way we'll get to do a full physical before any trade goes through.

Re: Trade Targets
You know who would be a good PnP/PnR guy, would actually probably fit pretty well if healthy, and has a bad enough contract/injury history that technically it might not take much value to get him?

Re: Trade Targets
Yep, Amare is perfect, except for the fact that we're trying to get better defensively, and Amare is arguably the worst defensive player of all time, no exaggeration.
And there's also the fact that his knees are shot and he can't stay on the court...

Re: Trade Targets
Unless we're talking upper echelon guys like LMA, Pau or Smith, the only guys that really seem worth it would be Nene and Millsap.
Everyone else is probably completely untouchable or meh.
I would love to take a shot on a Thomas Robinson, Larry Sanders or Derrick Williams, but I either don't see them available for what we have or they're a lottery ticket who will have trouble cracking the rotation and is a long shot to ever pan out.
Gortat is a guy I thought of, but he seems like a through and through center, I haven't watched Phoenix enough to really know if there's any chance of him playing the 4 full time though.
Don't like the idea of Boozer so much at all really, although I wouldn't say flat out no.
Who else?

Re: Trade Targets
You guys are probably tired of this trade idea, but I'm still pimping it:
BRK: Humphries/Wallace/Brooks/1st for Varejao/Kirilenko
We upgrade our defense and rebounding with floor-spacers for our Big Three.
Williams, Johnson, Kirilenko, Varejao, Lopez
Watson, Stackhouse, Bogans, Evans, Blatche
CLE: Varejao/Casspi for Humphries/Williams/1st
Cavs shed '14 salary, add a Robin to Kyrie's Batman, and net a pick.
Irving, Gee, Williams, Thompson, Zeller
Gibson, Waiters, Miles, Humphries
MIN: Kirilenko/Williams for Wallace/Casspi/Brooks
Wolves get a true SF alongside K-Love, and young guns.
Rubio, Brooks, Wallace, Love, Pekovic
Ridnour, Shved, Casspi, Cunningham
The added benefit would be that IF Kirilenko decided to exercise his player option next summer (read: Prokhy side-deal), we would be under the luxury tax apron. That would afford us the ability to execute a sign-and-trade deal. I know the chances are slim that a Dwight Howard or Chris Paul would commit to us, but isn't better to have the option than not? Besides, there are other FAs like Iggy, Smoove and (gulp) Bynum that may be worth pursuing.

Re: Trade Targets
I know there was a lot of hesitation to him this summer, but I still think Thaddeus Young is a guy worth considering. No idea if he is available or not, but I think the defensive combination of him and Wallace would really help solidify our rotations, not to mention boost our overall athleticism infinitely.
Right now he's averaging 14/8 with more than 1 spg and shooting 50%. No, he wouldn't really be a great interior presence blocking shots but he is very good at rotating over and has a lot of the same intangible qualities as Wallace (and seeing first hand how much toughness and defensive positioning can change a game, that's what I want more of). If you look at the way the East is right now especially, imagine having both he and Wallace to deploy against Melo, Pierce, Lebron, etc. When other teams go bigger you could easily throw Evans into the fold a little bit more.
Again, no idea if this is feasible and what it would cost (Collins seems to love Thad). I'm sure their preference would be Humphries to a 3rd team, but this is something I would do. I liked the idea over the summer, and like it ever more now after watching this team. Despite Lopez' deficiencies, size and rebounding are strengths - it's athleticism and defensive intelligence that's much needed.
