Re: Official Draft Thread: Prospects Watch
I like CJ's game and wouldn't mind taking him on our team. But with guards being faster and stronger, ideally I'd want our next point guard to be as much of a physical phenom as possible. He's extremely crafty, scores at a high clip and at a high percentage, and has a great basketball IQ. However, he doesn't have NBA athleticism, his leaping ability is pretty average for the college level, he has average explosiveness at the rim, and he's not that strong. Stephen Curry and Jeremy Lin have been able to get away with it and CJ may be able to get away with it too, but I'm not ready to toss all of my eggs into that basket just yet. If it's point guard we want, then there's going to be an interesting battle that takes place between Marcus Smart and CJ McCollum throughout the year.

Re: Official Draft Thread: Prospects Watch
Man i've been going back and forth in my head when it comes to PG prospect and who would be better to have. At first i thought we should have a pass-first guy but i came to the conclusion that i feel like a pass-first guy suited our old team better with Dwight. This system and with the players we have i'm not so sure a pass-first guy suits us to be honest. We're struggling for points so it might be a bit simplistic to think this way but what's the use of a pass-first guy if no one is hitting shots?
Now i'm not saying we have to snag C.J with our top pick but more than likely we should end up with a few mid-rounders if Henny can work some magic(NPI) if he can be had at the 15-20 range then why not? Even though i feel he will go lottery i don't think he's a bad pick i mean basically the majority of today's great PG's are not pass-first guys. No matter who we pick my fear is that Henny will basically not address the PG situation as he might actually be content with Nelson/Moore moving forward which i hope is not the case.

Watch Deshaun Thomas against Duke tonight for OSU. Guy may be the best ALL AROUND scorer in the entire country & he can def fill it up. Not to mention his rebounding is way above average & he has some of the best hands in the country.
This guy will lead OSU deep into March & I expect him to have a big game tonight.
WISH we had a early 2nd round pick/late first round pick. Deshauns game SCREAMS 6th man of the year candidate in the NBA.

I only watched the first half but ALL of them looked bad. ND's center pushed Noels around like a twig and Goodwin looked like Marshon Brooks (and not in a good way).

I know it's early but here is my Top 5 lottery teams:
1.Cleveland Cavilers-Nerlens Noel ( Must take a big man to compliment Irving/Watiers)
2.Washington Wizards-Shabazz Muhammad ( They need everything)
3.Orlando Magic-Marcus Smart ( A real vocal leader reminds me of Mark Jackson but Dwade Wade type of ability)
4.Sacramento Kings-Cody Zeller (This team needs character guys and potentially pair him w/ Cousins in front court)
5.OKC Thunder(via Raptors)-Alex Lin (or BPA. Personally I think they should trade the pick along w/Perkins Contract for cap space, only if Thabeet is the real deal)

Re: Official Draft Thread: Prospects Watch
Man is it fair to say that Noel is no Anthony Davis? Noel isn't as dominant as i thought defensively not saying he isn't a good defender he is but i thought he would be dominating. It's still early and maybe he will hit his stride later on but Noel has some work to do. Shabazz has been good but not great, maybe it's a product of the system they run at UCLA as i hear it kind of hampers Bazz a bit. Season is still early so i'm going to wait on it but those two guys are kinda suspect right now

Relax, the season just started i doubt anyone will care in 3 months how they started the year
aol4532 on bill russell
I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

I'm starting to believe that as well especially for Noel, I was a big time fan of getting Muhammad to Orlando but he needs to work on his overall skill set (not to mention right hand). I know Marcus Smart is the better player of the two and could be the # 1 pick if the Magic do get the pick. I think Cody Zeller is worthy of being in a Magic uniform but not with the top overall pick.

I would be pissed if we took zeller. He is basically Vucci but younger....
And lol at everyone thinking after 4-5 games Noel and Baz aren't worth hype.....Bazz isn't even back in bball shape yet cmon now guys

Why would GM Hennigan see an undersized SG as BPA at #3? Everyone in the world would have Orlando taking Cody Zeller at #3 if he was available.
With Zeller moved to the C, Orlando would have four young players projected to be long term starters in Afflalo, Harkless, Nicholson, and Zeller. All that is missing from these young guns is a capable PG for the future. If Orlando could flip any/all of Ayon/Harrington/McRoberts/Turkoglu in a package that returned Kendall Marshall, Orlando would have a solid core of a starting five for the very, very long term. There would be no stars there, so a title run would need to look like the 2004 NBA Finals, where Larry Brown's Pistons smoked Phil Jackson's Lakers.

Well, in a soft draft, marginal players often go high. This is how the Bogut et al.'s got selected so high.
I think the greater point is that this is not a draft worth tanking for! Getting a top 5 pick is not particularly fruitful this year, so Orlando should simply play hard and see where it all ends (and maybe tank next year

lawl Kendall Marshall is terrible
I have no idea why you think that team will make it to the Finals much less win one, Cody Zeller probably won't be a superstar at the next level given how slow he is.

This^^^^
good god Marshall is horrible lol.....He can't score and deff can't do anything else good enough to make up for that.
Agreed on Zeller....I see him as a good college big man, not a good NBA big man.
I see noel being outplayed in college, but excelling in the NBA due to his athleticism and length
