Player of the Game

Post#1 » by ATL Boy » Thu Nov 29, 2012 3:35 am

6 straight wins, we consolidate 3rd place in the east, I haven't made a goat of the game in a while and hope it continues to be player of the game threads

Al Horford (4)
Kyle Korver (2)
Josh Smith (1)
Zaza Pachulia (1)

Notes: Al Horford continued his dominance after being named Easter conference player of the week: he had 17 points, 11 rebounds (4 offensive), and 6 assists, with 3 blocks, he also stepped up to the free throw line in a crucial moment at the end of the game despite having huge free throw trouble these past few games, he knocked both down to push our lead to 3, the showings of a true leader; Josh Smith was just as impressive, he had 17 points, 13 rebounds (4 offensive), and 6 assists (the same stats as Al only with 2 rebounds more, they even both shot the same going 7-15), he also had 5 blocks and was instrumental in our win at times toying with the Charlotte offense, he however had 2 big missed free throws when our lead was 1 with 40 seconds left, he made up for it however by putting so much pressure on the final Cats inbound that they threw it away; Lou Williams again played the part of subersub coming in off the bench and getting 17 points along with 5 assists, Lou led our second unit yet again and is really putting himself into contention for 6th man of the year, what a bargain he is for the MLE; Zaza is on here as the 4th member to complete the list, Zaza was again gritty and did the dirty work, he had 4 offensive rebounds and 6 in total, he continues to give us solid rebounding off the bench.

Just missed the cut: Jeff Teague had a solid 11 points and had 5 assists (his streak of double digit assists snapped at 2, he was catching up to Rondo in that department), a 4-10 performance however was rather unimpressive

What I'd like to see: I'd like to see both Josh and Al keep doing good at the same time, we're dominant when both of our bigs are playing the way they should on a consistent basis. I'd like to see a continuation of this unselfish basketball, as a team we had 28 assists!! I love to see that. I'd also like to see us continue to dominate the paint, 15 offensive rebounds is impressive.

Impressive game by both of our bigs. Voted AL since he broke out of his FT slump and knocked two big ones at a crucial moment. Josh played well tonight also.

You should have included L Drew amongst the top players. Clearly the extra time off between games has been put to good use. The team played well and moved the ball effectively. And we're one of the best def teams in the league despite an undersized frontcourt AND Korver starting at SG.

I hope to see Morrow take advantage of this extra PT if Korver takes some time off.

I hope to see Jenkins get some burn in a game that matters.
