there was a rumor that Jamal Crawford's sister used to post here.
but beyond that, someone else should tell the story because i wasnt all caught up on it at the time, and i dont wanna get it wrong.

I could understand wearing a jersey if your playing ball... but wearing a jersey out if your over 30 isn't the best look, no offense... don't get me started on the headband WTF? It's a sweat band... A Knicks Tee is good enough.. or even a hat. Stop there when you pass 30.

She used to post here.
She was cool, but the board turned on Jamal Crawford due to his streaky shooting and poor defense.
He was basically the same player he is now, but got exposed a bit in the starting role.
Anyway, she couldn't take all the negative talk and stopped coming around.
Periodically, posters would not believe that she was actually his sister and get on her case about it.
She was JCBigSis or something like that.

i think this term originated around 2009 or there around, certainly before 2010 free agency period. It was when we were getting under the cap, and every now and then there would be a thread about a potential free agent that would be rumored to be interested in NY.
One of them happened to be Tony Parker.
In this thread, there was a big debate about how much TP was "worth". There were some who believed that he would be worth a max contract (which was like 16m back then) and others who said he was worth no more than 10, and that we would be overpaying for him.
in that thread, the term "max cat" was born to designate players certainly worth or certainly not worth max contract value.
hence, the max cat.
it became such a popular term that people started using it as their avatar (the one that pharmcat has).
Also, in the year of The Decision, much emphasis was being placed on clearing enough cap space to sign two Max Cats. Everybody was rocking that cat food bag as their avy.
That seems like fifty years ago.
