Time keeps on slippin'...into the future.

http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2012/11/1 ... f:nbahpt6e

The final days of November will mark the eight-week period that Wall was expected to miss after being diagnosed with the early stages of a non-traumatic stress injury in the knee just prior to the start of training camp. However, it’s apparent that Washington’s young potential star won’t make the deadline.

When the team is at home, Wall pushes through rehab and then does little else.

“Just lock myself in my house and listen to music,” he said.

:(

After the heady days of Bernard King Pt II, I can't think of a single, positive post-injury Wizards-related story where a player came back "good as new," "faster than expected," "better than ever," or was referred to as a "medical marvel."

I'm not saying that every player has to beat the odds and shock the doctors like Adrian Peterson...but one such anecdote wouldn't hurt.
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

This article is kinda old..well not the article but I believe Wall said this last week. Still it could be accurate but afterwards Wittman said they were on target.

Oh god is he depressed. That sounds like something you do when your gf cheats on you. I guess i would be too if i had to sit out while my team had the worst start ever. Im sure getting healthy and starting to play again will fix all that.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

This looks pretty good to me. At least he now has permission to make sharp cuts and to shoot jumpers. And I like that he's working on the weakest aspect of his game, the midrange shot. My guess is that he worked a lot on his three point shot over the past few weeks (which is a set shot for him and therefore something he was permitted to do earlier in his rehab) and now he's phasing in the midrange game.

It's reassuring that he is now able to have meaningful workouts that will help improve his skills. He shouldn't be too rusty once he's back in the lineup.

Mods - maybe you should take the "BREAKING" out of the title of this thread. I mistakenly freak out a bit every time I sign on.

Huh. His timing looked a little better to me. He tended to shoot on the way down last season; in that video he seemed to be shooting at or jussssst after the apex of his jumps.

Small victories.

meh

 THAT's the best I've seen John Wall shoot... like ever... I'm dead serious too. I've seen him work out with Sam a gazillion times and he wasn't making them in that frequency. His shooting motion looks a little different and he is following through on his shot.

Its improvement... atleast

“I never really had to use my jumper before,” John Wall told Kevin Van Valkenberg of ESPN The Magazine earlier this fall. ”I was so much better and faster than everyone, it didn’t matter.”

Welcome to the big leagues, Junior. Wall may have been the sixth-fastest player in NBA history to 2,000 points and 1,000 assists, but he’s not a top shelf NBA product. Not yet.

Sounds like what many of us have said about him. It was the lesson he needed to learn last year when he came back healthy and acted like a crash dummy trying to run by everyone. Eventually as the season went on, he did finally start to change pace to get by people. That got him to the basket but them he didn't finish well. Eventually he got better at that, but he did didn't have a liable jumper.

John has a lot of raw material and I have seen progress in his game. I think he still has plenty of upside. Rondo took a while to develop and now he has something that looks like an outside shot.

Wall even as he ended last season is going to really help the team. Wall progressing and adding even an ok jumper is going to help even more.

I think he made as many three pointers there as he did all season last year. Encouraging, glad he's taking his time though.

You can tell when he is going to miss before it gets to the basket. Its when he doesn't release all in one motion but instead hold it a moment to long after he jumps. Its when there is a hitch in his shot. When he jumps, crocks and release all in one smooth motion, it goes in.

He seems more comfortable with the set shot which probably makes sense since that is all he has been allowed to do.

Personally. I'm really looking forward to Wall returning. I think he is going to make a huge difference given this roster. He can still get some points on his own going coast to coast but even in a half court, he is going to make the defense react and that creates motion. Once the D is moving, lanes open up. But to make a really big difference, he will have to get the D to respect his 15 foot J. Then he can drive easier and that opens up even more options for the team.

Wall on the court really can change a ton. And with him out there, even if you only get 20 minutes from Nene, the team will look very different. With both, I would expect them to be in any game against a .500 to .550 teams with room to get better..ie. Kevin, Webster, Trevor A, etc.

Kevin has been frustrating me because he his rebounding and lack of FTA, but I can see him developing those skills. He already has some really nice post moves and mid range. Kid has room to grow. Given the scoring he can already do, he is good enough to put out there so he can learn even more.

Not a terribly impressive video. His mid range jumper still has that awkward hitch to it, which will keep him from even being an average jump shooter in games (IMO). On the threes he still doesn't get any elevation at all. Was hoping his form would have improved perceptibly, doesn't look like it has.

IRC Beal made a TON of shots in an empty gym during pre-draft exercises. I'll believe Wall's improved his jumper during real game action. It is encouraging that he's making sharp cuts and looks like he has a spring in his step.

I think Walls return will be a lot like Kevin Loves return. Out of no where he'll just start playing. Speaking of Love--anyone subscribe to the Ewing theory? Wolves were 5-4 w/o love and 1-4 with him...

If you guys have ever watched even college level basketball players -- they ALL shoot 90% in practice, at least the shooters do. Wall missing as many jumpers as he does when no one's even guarding him is kind of worrying.
