Trade Help Please

Post#1 » by msmoore66 » Thu Nov 29, 2012 10:10 pm

Been having a large amount of back and fourths with a mate over a trade.

Playing 9 cat, 14 team, H2H and very importantly it is a Keeper league (Keep 6, have put [K] next to my proposed keepers at this stage)

My team is:

PG Jeremy Lin [K]
SG Arron Afflalo
SF Chandler Parsons [K]
PF Boris Diaw
C Al Horford [K]
C Joakim Noah [K]
G Chris Paul [K]
F Zach Randolph [K]
UTIL Nene
UTIL Kevin Seraphin
Bench Taj Gibson
Bench Nick Young
Bench Jeffery Taylor
IR Kawhi Leonard*

His team is:

PG Ty Lawson
SG E'Twaun Moore
SF Marvin Williams
PF Kevin Love
C DeMarcus Cousins
C Nikola Pekovic
G Kevin Martin
F Derrick Williams
UTIL Klay Thompson
UTIL Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
Bench George Hill
Bench Jeremy Pargo
Bench Matt Barnes
IR Danny Granger*
IR Gerald Henderson*

We are only in the middle of our 5th week but I am sitting 3rd and seem to be holding my own alright. Don't really dominate any particular stat except steals and assists but due to me keeping active on the waiver wire I can usually keep some of the others close resulting in no huge beatdowns or victories.

Now, he is really keen on Leonard, probably a little fan bias due to him being a Spurs guy. He is actively trying to move Martin and Granger. So the offer he is digging his heals in on is:

I trade: Zachary Randolph, Kawhi Leonard, Jeremy Lin, Nene
He trades: Nikola Pekovic, Kevin Martin, Danny Granger, Jeremy Pargo

I have had a thorough look at the numbers, had to use Granger's 2012 figures so those a probably a tad high. Seems to me, that while I will see an increase in points and threes I will take a large hit in rebounding, and then decent hits in steals and assists. I think the inclusion of Lin is actually what is hurting me, and this is with him playing mediocre right now.

Looking for some advice here, I am leaning towards rejecting and just asking for a trade based around Martin and Leonard.

Some things I have been thinking:
Is Randolph's production sustainable?
What about in comparison to Pek's - I expect his eff to increase with Rubio's return.
Lin will surely increase his 3s at some point.
Will Granger return to his best? Since it is a keeper league I can wait if I have to.
How much could Leonard grow over the next few years? Would he be on of my keepers?

I don't like that trade for you. Especially in a keeper league

Yeah my thoughts. Granger would be nice, but is really that much of a fantasy stud?

What about a Martin for Leonard trade? Not sure if Leonard even makes it as a keeper on my team.

You're getting **** in that trade.

Just because he likes Kawhi doesn't mean he's an idiot and is going to sell the farm for him. IMO he's made that evident. Especially if he's a Spurs fan. Come on, who is a fan of the Spurs? Probably someone smarter than the average bear. You can try Kawhi for Martin but I'd suspect it gets laughed off.

Frankly, I love Kawhi too, and he has pretty big upside. Not 2nd round or anything but sneaky 4th/3rd round.

Oh yeah, dont you worry I had tried many a different trade option but this is what he stuck on. Just wanted to check that I wasn't missing something. Ran the numbers a few times and they certainly don't lie.

He may bite on Leonard for Martin.

I like Leonard too, but to be honest, right now I don't know if I can keep him, but can let the season play out before making that decision.
