Yea I remember that. I believe it was the piston fan comboguard and mugzi (not sure if it was mugzi though). That was internet tough guy at its best.

I think it was BernardKing not mugzi.

Nope. Coke was gonna meet BenardKing on a corner to fight. Coke was a stocky street fighter and BK was a war veteran. I believe that got as far as describing what they'd be wearing, but it never materialized.

Bernard King was one of the worst posters of all-time. He would insult people incessantly for criticizing Eddy Curry. He really believed Curry was going to be a superstar and would use excuses whenever he didn't pan out.

Jamal Crawford's sister posting on here, wow do I remember that.

She was posting on here all throughout the weeks of rumors surrounding his trade here, giving us hints and glimmers of hope that he would soon be arriving. The deal fell through a couple times before being official but she kept giving us updates telling the board how much JC wanted to be a Knick.

She kept posting for a bit when Jamal started playing for us, but suddenly disappeared. I think she was genuinely shocked at how cruel posters can be when the team struggles, and how much JC took the blame. He wasn't called "Crawful" for nothing, after all.

Hell yes. Now you're talking.

Kingkong and later, son of Kong, and then . . . the closing of Sportstalk, which led to the rise of RealGM's forum. before that, RealGM was mostly a trade checker, Sportstalk was where you went for news and to chat.

That was the beginning of the Awful Knicks.

anyway . . . history . . . too much to say, but

First Knick Mod: Knicksfan (when he was appointed, a lot of us said "who?", but he grew on us, even if he liked things rated G)

later mods (from the early days) - NYKinOZ, Spandau (who was in love with Britney spears).

Remember Nynex - funny guy and he knew his ball. Worked for the Hawks for a bit, and Voice (also funny)

and guest stars, Mr. Phule and Too Crisp (I think both those guys were Voice incognito)

and the scary dude "DarkCloud"

and we actually had a famous person's son post here once in a while . . . can't say who. (and if you know - no more hints)

and Hell's Kitchen leaking a story once an hour before it came out in the papers and the board went crazy (he worked / probobly still works for a local paper)

I don't post as much as I used to . . . but good memories. A lot of these are probobly before a lot of people's time.
Go Knicks!! Go Mets!!

As for the Jets . . . just keep it entertaining.

That was my sense. I think the Bulls board treated her with more respect. A lot of posters here were nice to her (JCbigsis), but . . . enough were mean to ruin it.

It might have been the "Chinese take-out crush" thread that got me regularly reading this board...

Also from somewhere around that time was a thread along the lines of "post the worst s**t you've ever done"... a mix of hilarious and downright horrifying stuff that left quite the indelible impression...

Leads was lots of fun. I liked him. From Florida, but he was a Knicks fan and a Marlins fan - go figure.

Who was the guy who pretended to be a realGM representative and got banned because of it? Very active poster for a while.

I'd forgotten. He was a pretty vocal conservative. Liked Bush. Got into a lot of arguments on the Current Affairs board. Thanks for posting that.

Starks1994 wrote:Here's one I don't understand: How did Raptor fans become obsessed with Knicks boards?

This may have been answered but primarily 2 reasons.

The Knicks board and the Raptors board were the 2 biggest boards in Real GM.

also, the Real GM message boards got going after the 2000 season, before 2001. The Knicks and Raptors met in the playoffs both those seasons and had some good matchups. A rivalry was born. Now, not long after 2001 both the Knicks and the Raptors sucked, Vince carter was no longer the Raptor's future and the rivalry was forgotten, but there was, briefly, a genuine rivalry with Spree on one side and Vince on the other.

9-11 actually brought everyone together and the fighting stopped for a while. there were a lot of interesting discussions following 9-11. Nobody wanted to argue anymore.

Funny stuff.

Pretty sure Major got banned on the CA board and not talking hoops. I always disagreed with his politics but at least he kept his humor about him during it.

Also all the Free Hoodie Sigs, which I think one or two are still out there.

There was also the guy who alsways posted the greatest GIFs of half naked women with great racks, back when GIFs weren't as common as today. Can't remember his name atm.

I think Allah said that "if the Knicks win 30, I'll chain myself next to a urinal" and that year the Knicks won 37 or something like that and somebody made a signature of Allah's sig, next to a urinal. it was classic.

HK first broke the Howard Eisley/Shandon Anderson trade, which, at the time, some of us were excited about.

That was big at the time. But he didn't like the attention so he got out of the "breaking the news before it broke" business.
