Re: Some rumors I've been hearing
That we would be sniffing around Al Jefferson makes a lot of sense to me.
We keep talking about needing a guy who can make their own offense, and I think we usually envision a wing when we say that. But Jefferson can do that as a big, in the post, in a way that Boozer can't.
This season Jefferson has been assisted on 54.3% of his scores, Boozer 62%.
Around the basket, Jefferson gets assisted 44.8% around the rim and 34% from 3-9 ft, while Boozer 61% and 100% from the same areas.
To me, these numbers suggest that if you were able to replace Boozer with Jefferson, you'd have a big capable of making something on his own as a secondary late shot clock option. And Jefferson/Noah/Taj is a pretty tough frontcourt for other teams to deal with. You keep playing bully ball on the boards, and Jefferson gives you more in the post.
Utah has to make a choice on whether they are going to keep Al or Milsap, so they may end up moving one of them. I don't know what kind of deal they'd expect to be getting, but if the price weren't too high and you could find a way to move Boozer, I'd get behind that.

Jefferson, like Booz, is not a good defender but a rebounding banshee, both are getting 11.7 rebounds per 36 which is awesome. Jefferson can play Center and has more post moves, he's not really efficient in fact his career TS is only .531. Al Jeff gets to the line not quite once more per game in 4 more minutes.
If Mirotic was coming in two seasons it makes sense to make the exchange (again assuming Boozer could be 'dumped' as it avoids the amnesty. Al Jeff might not be here long enough to earn the vitriol Booz has gotten, though he could in a year and a half.

Why would the Magic trade for Boozer? They're trying to be bad and Boozer would make them better.

They are willing to take on salary to acquire draft picks. Im assuming they want the Charlotte pick.

But I would think they'd want dead-weight contracts rather than overpaid players who are still good. For all of Boozer's shortcomings, the guy is still a pretty good player. He's better than all of the frontcourt guys for the Magic, that's for sure.

I agree with you. Just food for thought, someone earlier made up a trade, I think it was Booz and the Charlotte pick for Afflalo and Fat Fetus.
I'm sure this wouldn't happen, but in theory Orlando gets rid of two longer contracts for another possibly good pick, a shorter contract, and possibly get a little worse now making their own pick more valuable. This assumes many many things including that they don't see AA as the future and them realizing the Fat Fetus contract was a big mistake.

I do that deal in a heartbeat. Davis is only at $6.4 mil per for another two and Afflalo at $7.735 would be great. They add up to less than Boozer and I doubt the Charlotte pick gets us anything better than AA. I still think AA would be a great fit with Derrick.

Re: Some rumors I've been hearing
Dont know if this works in trade checker, but I would be up for a trade of Boozer + Rip for Marshon + Joe Johnson.
We would be in salary hell.....but Marshons rookie scale combined with Butlers and Teague's can make things relatively palatable.
You then move Deng for a high pick next year to a team that can absorb him and you have a team for next year as follows:
Rose / Kirk / Teague
JJ / Marshon / Butler
Butler / Lotto Pick / JJ
Taj / Mirotic / Vet PF-C
Noah / Taj / Vet PF-C
Total annual salary is roughly around 77 million. And you get your legit #2 option and lots of clutch options.
Imagine a tight playoff game where we need a score and you roll out:
Rose
Brooks
JJ
Mirotic
Noah or Taj
SG becomes a problem of the past.

Ya unfortunately it was just a made up trade by one of us Bulls fans in the trade thread I think, one Orlando fan actually said he wanted them to trade AA because he was helping the team win games, I think that fan was actually in favor of the deal. Again Orlando would have to feel a certain way and really be looking big picture.
But ya do that and then Mirotic comes and ??? profit. ;p

My guess is if Orlando and Chicago made a deal it would be Davis and Redick for Boozer.

Joe Johnson/Rip Hamilton >>> Reddick/Morrow/Marshon

Brook Lopez < Noah
The team you want rivals the 07 Bulls level of good. And yes, that team was crap.
In what world is Gerald Wallace better than Deng???
And honestly Reddick/Morrow/Marshon would probably be a wash if not better compared to JJ and Rip. Those guys game are not close to what it use to be and JJ just isn't that good anymore.

That would be a good roster but doubt either team signs off on that trade

This would be a really good trade for us as well. However, I think we need to give up something more to make things equal.

Not necessarily.
Orlando is now a bottom-feeding NBA team that needs any type of star power that they can get. Although most on this board hate Boozer, he still has some star power & he's capable of 18/10 on a team that treats him as their "star". Like I explained on the previous page, this may be the only way (other than the draft) that Orlando can acquire "star" players.
Keep in mind that Big Baby was signed mostly to pacify Dwight, who is now a Laker. Big Baby has absolutely no value to Orlando anymore.

Agree. and Derrick Rose is better than, not equal to Deron. Like I said, this guy forgets just how great a healthy Rose is. I do know how Derrick is going to be when he comes back. He's going to be Derrick freaking Rose.. might take him a few weeks to get his rhythm back but I expect nothing less than the genuine article. Look at David West, he is better than ever right now. Look at AP. Rose is just the kind of guy that you know will be better than ever after a long rest. I can't wait to see him on the floor again destroying D Will and CP3 and Rondo, like he was before he got hurt. I can't wait.
