B Shaw Speaks on the Phil Situation

Post#1 » by MensRea » Tue Nov 27, 2012 6:55 pm

I've been slow to jump on the Dantoni bandwagon, and really I'm still not on it. A huge reason why I haven't accepted Dantoni is the way Phil was handled. (It really doesn't help hearing him say that he wishes Pau Gasol was Shawn Marion :nonono: )

"Under the circumstances, Phil Jackson, who's been there and done that and put a lot of money in everybody's pockets around here, the way it was done . . . it's mind-boggling," Shaw said Monday in an interview with The Times. "I was joking with him, at least you got a phone call, even though it was midnight.

I have a real problem with the way the Lakers front office handles their personnel. Odom, Fisher, B Shaw and Phil's Staff, Phil, I don't like what it represents to those outside of the organization. It's not exactly a big selling point. What's in it for them? Come in, have a lot of success, the second you are expendable you are gone without so much as a wrist watch.

shaw is a little late on this subject. I do agree with what shaw had to say about laker's eerie handling of the situation but at some point the lakers had to move on from the jackson era. Unfortunately they just did it in an odd fashion

Still don't see anything wrong with the way Phil was "handled"... There was clearly a miscommunication there, but for my money, it was on Phil... Not the Lakers org.

Odom? Please... Candyman's still off the deep end... He got traded. It happens. The only troublesome part of it was that the trade was blocked.

Fisher? I thought he'd retire a Laker. But it didn't seem to surprise him a whole lot... So why should it surprise us.

B Shaw? Not sure what the Lakers 'did' to him... They just didn't offer him a job... You can't take that personal.

In order to remain relevant in the NBA, you have to react quickly to the situations that come up. All these guys should have that figured out by now... Fisher seems to anyway.

Don't see how they handled the LO trade wrong, they couldn't tell him anything until it was official (which it never was) and the Fisher trade literally happened at the deadline, there was no way for them to "handle" it in terms of PR.

B Shaw is Phil's guy, nothing too earth shattering here.

I am sure Shaw is still raw over being quickly passed over for the job, I cannot say I blame him.

The bottom line is that Baby Jimmy is running the show and he has his agenda against Phil and most people associated with him. Is it right? wrong? who knows, the bottom line is that this is Mike D's program now and the Lakers will have to buy in to win.

I did not like the way the whole Phil situation went down, the FO was never serious about hiring him in the first place, it was a quick smokescreen to ease the fans.

It was not wrong to trade LO, it was wrong in that when they did it the 2nd time, it was a knee jerk reaction , and although it turned out to be a win for the Lakers, had they taken their time with it, they could have got something back in return.

shaw is the only situation i think was handled poorly. odom fisher, i don't even see any issue at all for anyone to complain about. phil, i think was handled as best as possible. phil thought it was his job to decline, the fact that the lakers were interviewing others should have been a big hint that it wasn't.

Sour grapes...

I can understand B Shaq being frustrated by his situation, but I think he should just leave it at that.

I didn't see anything wrong in the way the Lakers handled Phil Jackson.
