Where will Vick end up?

Post#1 » by orlandomanic » Sun Dec 2, 2012 9:57 am

Vick is too great of a football player not to be in the NFL next year. it is just his durability issues and average QB skills that come into question.

Which team will ended up picking up Vick?

Will Vick be a QB or back up QB next year or ended up trying another position?

If anyone picks him up, I'd say it'd be a team with a poor current QB, such as KC.

Chad Henne has been playing great for the Jaguars but would anybody think Jacksonville a possibility. They need help selling tickets and do need a playmaker at the position and Vick would help both of those causes.

Jacksonville was the first place that came into my mind.

They seem pretty happy with Ponder. And early in the season, Ponder did show some real promise.

Chiefs will get their QB in the draft, most likely Eric Barkley.

Cardinals seem like the most likely destination for Vick.

I'd put money on it being the Cardinals.

Cardinals makes alot of sense, but I wouldn't be surprised to see about 5 other teams in the mix. I could definitely see him on the Jets, the owners always going after big name players whether its a good idea or not, and even with all Vicks many flaws he's still better than Mark Sanchez by a wide margin. (I'm not convinced Tebows going to get a shot there)

Cardinals make zero sense until they fix that o-line.

Of the teams that will be/might be in the market for a new QB...

KC - will probably go with a draft pick, but if not then someone younger than Vick
Jacksonville - Possibility
NY Jets - Not with the $ they owe to Sanchez
Eagles - obviously not
Tennessee - Locker has been inconsistent, but I think they give him another year
Buffalo - maybe if Fitzpatrick goes?
Arizona -definite possibility

I would say Arizona and Jacksonville. Jets owe Sanchez almost $9M next year (fully guaranteed) so I have to imagine he'll be slotted as the "starter" again.

I have to assume they're going to spent multiple day 1 and 2 picks on offensive linemen. IMO it's the biggest positional hole in the league right now. Vick's mobility might also help make their line look better than it is, though his fumbling would be an enhanced concern the more he's on the run.

Jets makes sense. Their owner loves big names and hype, and they need a QB.

^^ They're stuck on the hook with Sanchez for $8.75M for next year, fully guaranteed. You think they'd really be willing to pile even more money on top of that, especially with so many other holes on the roster that need to be plugged?

I guess if you consider Sanchez to be a sunk cost at this point, Vick might make some sense. But I think we'll see another year of Sanchez/Rex Ryan before they both get kicked to the curb after 2013.

Don't rule out the Cowboys. Jones loves having his teams covered by the media. Vick would provide the circus that he craves.
