Where Jazz stand?

We are about 1/4 into the season and it appears it is a lot like last year except with some outside shooting. Kanter, Favors, and Hayward do not play enough minutes and Burks now barely plays and is regressing as a player because of the lack of playing time. Assuming no trade is made regarding Millsap/Jefferson, what will the Jazz record be at the end of the year?

45-37 7th seed BUT if Millsap/Jefferson traded away (i care less what we get back) then 49-33 4th seed.

Millsap and Jefferson are unathletic somewhat talented players that get most out of their ability, but that is not good enough when you have 2 top 3 picks with physical and basketball talent (Kanter and Favors) not getting on the floor bc of they are not veterans. And dont get me started over one deminsion Foye getting starting minutes over Hayward.

It really seems like a wasted year by the Jazz management.

This Jazz team suffers from a group of close to average veterans consuming the minutes on the floor. We seem to have a lot of depth but that really means we don"t have the star power required to reach the top levels of the NBA. Our young guys are still only getting marginal minutes, for the most part. The youngsters show flashes but don"t receive enough floor time to make major improvements.

Our coaching is very unimaginative and lacking in the decisions required to make the next step. The road record is abysmal and reflective of the coach not being able to lead effectively.

I think this team will plod along finishing about .500, 41-41. We may make the playoffs depending on what happens around us, but we will not be a factor in the playoffs.

If the Jazz trade Millsap and Jefferson without getting anything back, then they surely don't improve. Our big man rotation would be Favors/Kanter. You don't win a lot fo games with two bigs on the roster. So, it definitely matters what they get back.

However, I do think this team would be better with Favors/Kanter replacing Millsap all together. I've always liked Paul, but man... he's just disappeared. We probably win last night if Millsap stays on the bench and Kanter finishes the game. And I say move Al or find a way to make him play every game like he did last night. First time he takes a defensive play off, pull him. First time he forces a shot through a double team, pull him. Last night was so frustrating in a sense, because Big Al showed that he is more than capable of playing D, he just simply doesn't want to, doesn't have to.

And I don't see how anyone can be upset with Foye for getting starter minutes over Hayward. If you wanna be upset with Hayward coming off the bench then look no further than Big Al. The reason Hayward is on the second unit is simply because BIg Al isn't. When Big Al is in the game everyone else does one of two things: stand and watch, or shoot threes. Since Hayward isn't hitting many of his threes... he doesn't offer much when Al is on the floor. Besides that, Hayward is playing great off the bench. So, if he's fine with it, roll with it.

If the Jazz don't make a move, then I think this team comes in around 41-41.
If they make a move just to move contracts and get future assets, then we finish around 33-49.
If they make a move and bring in a decent contributor, 41-41.
If they make a big move and bring in someone like Granger/Pau, then I think we can hit the 47-35 mark.
If somehow we were to land an All-Star caliber PG like Curry, Jennings, etc. then I think the Jazz break 50.

I was all about giving Corbin a chance, but I'm pretty fed up with him. We need to defend the three, play with some heart on the road, find some consistency (48 minutes), and so on. Corbin shares the weaknesses of Sloan, but without bringing the strengths that Sloan had. I don't put all the blame on Corbin, the man has the talent for a 50 win club.

Incredibly rare I agree. But with the West being as tumultuous as it has ever been, there are a lot of wins to be had for the right teams. While I don't think we are one of those teams... there are players that could make it happen.

I'm going to give Corbin the benefit of the doubt here. He knows his roster better than any of us. With that being said, I think they might be able to move one big man (Jefferson, maybe?) in exchange for a couple of cheaper ones to serve as backup. I'm sure you guys all saw how vulnerable we were last night against Toronto when we were down to 2 bigs and Millsap got in early foul trouble. Sure, we lighted them up with perimeter offense, but good defensive teams are't going to allow that.

I still don't think we're even a playoff team, but my blind fury at adding Foye, Mo and Marvin is fueling that.
