If Doeren waited a few days before this job opened up, would he have been a realistic candidate for this job?

I don't see how this should hurt Wisconsin that much. Might be a good thing that he's leaving, in fact.

Yes he would've been realistic. Won't be shocked at all if they ask to talk to Chryst either.

I personally am excited to see some new blood out there but I also think some people underrated him quite a bit.

I know a lot of Badger fans will be happy, I'd just say be careful of what your wish for. You might end up with a smooth talking car salesman like Tim Brewster.

Hilarious because yesterday Homer said he hopes some SEC school hires Bielema away.

I'm trying to decide if I care. I decided I don't.

That's strange.

Why would they hire him after a down year?

I think the program is a bit too stable for that to happen, but you never know.

This is the Wisconsin Athletic Department. For the most part, they've made good decisions the last two decades. Don't compare us to Minny please. :D

:o whoa. This is maybe the last thing I would have expected. Im sort of happy but at the same time Im afraid we end up like what PBGM said. Hopefully we can get one of the coaches that left back.

Arkansas though... really?

Despite some boneheaded mismanaging of games, Bielema has done a good job as WI coach. Hopefully they bring in a coach who can recruit or develop a top level QB that is here more than 1 season. Going to Rose Bowls does not cut it anymore.

Arkansas was trying to back up a truckload of money to any name coach to restore their reputation a bit.

I don't think Bielema is some brilliant tactician but again, careful what you wish for, guys. 3 straight Rose Bowls even if one was helped by other teams' sanctions.

Also wonder how Urban Meyer and the fact they went undefeated will effect the attractiveness of this position. That is a pretty big road block to the Rosebowl every year. This is still arguably the most attractive job opening in the country though. I'm sure Alvarez has a list of coaches in his desk knowing this kind of thing could happen.

Probably. I wonder if Chryst would come back, if so, he would be my top guy.

So are there any name coaches that are just sitting there available?

Obviously we can go and hire some rising star from a lesser program that is currently employed or like you guys said, Chryst...but are people going to start throwing around Gruden's name? The vest?

Should be able to attract top notch candidates, it will be very interesting to see what Alvarez does.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.
