If Davis played almost all of the games with his PER in tact, and the Hornets had a .700 record (rookie, major win improvement), yes he would be a very serious candidate for MVP.

I think i'm going to be sick.

If the knicks are first in the east, and the thunder don't get top seed Melo gets MVP. NY fans can stop posting stats to sway people. :)

L. James 26 Pts, 13 Reb, 11 Ast, 3 Stl, 2 Blk tonight.

Heat couldn't get the win though as so many missed Threes by them in the 4th. Wide open ones by Miller and Ray especially hurt them.

They lost to the Wizards without Wall and with a gimpy Nene. If anything it hurts Brons MVP chances. Bron missed 2 wide open 3's with 4 minutes left and went 0 out of 2 in the free throw line with a few minutes left.

Yeah, even if Carmelo put up 50 on like 20 shots in a loss to the wizards, I wouldn't bring it up in this thread as a positive.

EDIT:

I was curious, and decided to look this up. Since 85-86, the only player to do that was WILLIE BURTON in 94-95!

Did it on only 43 min, too, and his team got the W. Career high PPG in was 15. Career avg of 10 PPG in 8 seasons.

Greg Smith is 14th in PER. What if he keeps it up for a full season and the Rockets have a .700 record?

In a loss vs the depleted Wizards yes it is. If you watched the game Bron melted down the stretch. Interested to see how Bron and Melo play on Thursday.

Yes, the media will use a December game against an irrelevant team to decide who the MVP is. Even if LeBron scored 60 with a 55-foot, one-legged, fadeaway GW shot at the buzzer it wouldn't matter. Voters aren't looking at the award right now, and only care when the playoffs roll around.

Durant and the Thunder lost to the Wizards last season when they were being terribad too (iirc, it was around their 2nd win or so as well).

Elite teams have off nights against bad teams. Overreactions are silly. The MVP doesn't hinge on a December game against the Wizards.

Granted I think Durant's #1 right now, but that's just because of how well he's playing.

For MVP, coasting does not help Lebron's argument.

I'm not sure why we're arguing who the better player is, it's obvious Lebron still is. This thread is simply about who the MVP is this season and it is quite clearly Durant so far.

I don't think you get the point. 1 loss obviously doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. The point was bringing up his triple double in this thread as a positive is illogical when it came in a loss to the worst team in the league. It doesn't help his case at all.
