Guess who leads the NBA in points per possession in post up opportunities? Dwight? Duncan? Lebron? Nope, it's Durant by a lot at 1.26 PPP. Now let's look at where Durant excels at scoring this year.
Isolation: .98 PPP (6th in NBA)
Post-Up: 1.26 PPP (1st in NBA)
P&R roll man: 1.25 PPP (2nd in NBA)
Spot up: 1.41 PPP (7th in NBA)
Off Screen: .88 PPP (12th in NBA)
What position excels at post ups and rolling off of pick and rolls with some spot ups thrown in? Power Foward. I can't wait until Brooks finally plays Durant big minutes at the PF position, especially against teams without a bruising PF. Brooks has been playing around with it this year but he needs to up his minutes there.
Here's Durant as a PF this year (14% of the team's minutes, nearly 20% of his minutes):
119.7 OffRtg, 94.5 DefRtg, .621 eFg%, 45 points, 11.1 rebs, 6.1 assists, 4.2 blocks, 45.5 PER
