So is Roy completely out of the picture?
He had knee surgery and is out about a month, but doesn't he have level III arthritis? Is he going to play another game for us again or are we looking for that 2-guard come December 15th?
What is your opinion on Roy and the Wolves?

He should just retire - it would be best for his knees and for the Wolves. He'll probably try to come back, though. I think he is toast. He just doesn't want to believe it.

He hasn't been missed so...

Guys gotta stop listening to Gatorade/Nike slogans. He's one of the best guards to play the game, so I don't want to see him hurting himself and watching Roy from the sidelines. Leave on a high note.

I don't remember who said it, but someone said to just forget about him, and if by chance he does play again, it's bonus!

The only problem is he's taking up a roster spot. If we are just suppose to forget about him, I'd rather keep Josh Howard on the team (or Malcolm). Someone is going to have to go when Rubio returns.

Nope. It's not like basketball has an IR, just a 15 man roster.

Re: So is Roy completely out of the picture?
You're right about the roster spot though, and moreover, we could probably get the NBA to give us a disabled player exception for half of Roy's salary.
He can also be used as salary filler in trade. His insurance would get a team about $2 mil in cash, but he's certainly a liability. I don't know the specifics of Roy's contract, but I believe that since he had problems with his knee, his 2013 money is a team option, which makes him an expiring.
In any event, if a team has play-off aspirations, and a coach that seems to get the most out of bit players, it'd be in our best interests to have a viable player in his roster spot.

If Roy plays more than 65 games or 1,400 minutes next year becomes guaranteed. Doesn't look like either of those are likely.
The roster spot isn't that big a deal, playoff aspirations or otherwise. 9 or 10 guys typically play in a game, and even without Roy there's 14 guys under contract, and despite finding an unexpectedly capable Josh Howard a few weeks ago, most viable NBA players already have jobs at this point in the year. The Wolves are likely going to have enough of minutes crunch coming up with the return of Rubio and AK47 (and possibly Budinger later in the season), guys like Howard and Lee who have performed relatively capably are likely going to be on the outside looking in on the rotation.
Obviously it isn't ideal to have a roster spot tied up in a guy who can't play, but it's more of a cross that bridge when we get to it type of situation.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

Yeah! Kickin' it old school!
It'd be nice to see some of the classic posters check in every now and again. If you're lurkin' - just a quick post tost to say hi would be nice.

If he wants to come back the wolves will wait. No rush for him right now. We will know what will happen a month from now. He's either out or he will be playing again.

We're still talking about horaceworthy, right?
.. he said, to another RealGM legend.
Look at all these posters with over 5 years on the boards. Amazing.

I think we must give Roy three or four months and try to use his quality minutes for the big games of the end of season.

I don't even get to lurk as much as I'd like to anymore. I work most evenings, so I end up DVRing the games and watching them delayed. I try to avoid anywhere I would find the final score until it's over. Going from student to full time employment didn't do my post count any favors either.

I hadn't realized how outdated both parts of it are. No more triangle, Flynn's in another hemisphere, Brewer's in Denver, only Vindicater hates Ridnour, Cardinal's retired, and Dallas is looking up at the Wolves in the standings.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

At this point, if Kahn had any integrity as a man he'd encourage Roy to retire. For God's sake the guy might want to be able to walk 10 or 20 years from now!
