That's the answer.

Gooden isn't just a bad defender, he was the worst defensive big man in basketball last year and that wasn't a fluke, he's been atrocious on that end for a long time.

I know LRMAM is an elite defender, but that seems like a lot to ask of him. He can't compensate for all those guys. Start LRMAM and Udoh IMO.

No going to work...imo.

If you start Mbah a Moute you can then play Gooden or Ilyasova if you play Delembert. The defense of Monta and Jennings is blown out of proportion.

For any sensible fan it is asking too much for them to contain the PG's and comb guards they face from night to night. Skiles certainly couldnt contain them when he played nor could the announcers and media people or fans for that matter who cry about them being seives.

I am not making excuses for them, they are quick guys and give effort. That is all you can ask. How they heck are you asking them to shut guys down and then shoot a high percentage on the other end too!? I cut them some slack. They get steals and harrass the ball better then any two guards in the league.

That is why you got that height. The bigs need to rotate, switch and communicate better to help out which Mbah Moute is a adept at doing better then anyone in the league. Udoh is smart too but slow of foot getting over. And Ersan only flops on defense. He maybe a worse defender then Monta or Jennings!

I see them try. In the NBA you have to pick your poison. You are not shutting any good backcourt down and containing them with the no touch and no bump and no steer rules in the league. That is why they put them in there so you couldn't touch guys like Steve Nash.

And team with any kind of sense knows that. Only we in here have this pipe dream we can. On any given night a backcourt will light you up for 3pt range or in the paint in the draw and kick or getting to the line. That is the NBA folks...ADAPT. That does not mean they are not playing good defense or not trying!

It is a simple process of kowing the league, trends, and strengths. You could do what you are asking in the 8o's and 90's with the Bad Boys...not now. It is a guard league. Deal with it and do the best you can. Come back at them. The Bucks lead the NBA in pace...then run their a-- out the gym, stay close at the end and make a play...to win.

That simple. Numbers are irrelevant to me...in that regard. Keep the game close and find a way.

Basic summary if you don't want to read it.

-The combo of Sanders/Udoh is elite defensively in the NBA.

-Tobias needs to play on the second unit with those guys to hide his defensive problems. Moute needs to start to make up for the crappy defense of Jennings, Monta, Sammy and Henson.

Always a story behind the numbers...and they are not always what one might think. There are many players in the league who belie the numbers and are still good players.

Which is why I think personally you still need to watch, learn and know the NBA game... and adjust better not look at a sheet of paper and knee jerk react.

Most stats you give me I can tell you why it is happening. Mnay just look at how and when and that is fine but does not tell the whole story. I would go into details but I have commented way too much on this already. I am sorry...for my lack of brevity. Good day.

Just my opinion...that is how I would do it.
