look, if you want to be a knee-jerk fan with unrealistic expectations, and scream just for the sake of screaming, thats fine. many fans like that, and to each his own. but dont get mad oat me because im taking facts into the situation and being reasonable with my expectations.

its 16 games into the season. He is playing a new role, on a new team. He went from the first scoring option to the third or "2B" scoring option. He is playing with 2 guys who averaged 20 points a game. Even if he was shooting well, an adjustment period was to be expected.

a 17 game slump isnt unreal. In fact, its not even uncommon for johnson.

Last year, through 22 games he shot under 39% from the field
Last year, in the first half of the season he shot 34.3% from the field.

For his career he shoots 41% in october and november.

For his career his FG% increases every single month as the season goes on.

you can choose to bash him, call him mentally weak, call him a scrub, etc. i'll just choose to give him a bti mroe time and see if his shooting comes back to where it usually is.

They didn't call a clear goaltend on Ibaka and gave Durant that goaltend at a CRUCIAL point in the game. If its too close to call with replay, how is it not a block? A lot of weak calls throughout the game.

I'm very glad we only see OKC twice - it's crazy the havoc that Ibaka, Durant, Westbrook and Thabo cause on defense and the pick and roll. Without Brook, I felt like we were really limited on how we could attack them. I was very encouraged by the fact that we stayed in it and made it a real competitive game. We didn't really play well but we got hot when we needed too and strung together stops. This would've been a laugher and a blowout last year.

dont really agree re officiating, thought it was an evenly called game, but i do think that team is better than us at our best. no surprise taking the L, especially when thabo is making every open look he takes and ibaka is beasting like that. theyre the best offensive team in the NBA, and pretty sick on d as well. **** amazing how effortless KD makes 32 points look.

I said the same thing last night.

He had 32pts on 16 shots. 9FGM & 12/12FT.

Such a beast...

it was amazing he is so long for a guy with hsi quicknes and skill he can get wherever he wants so easily.... on a related note, it was extremely frustrating that they simply did not miss free throws

You know if you would've started off with a post like this, you wouldn't have received such a negative reaction from most of us.

The problem was/is that you're commenting on other people's posts, basically painting an image that JJ is playing ok and that he's not doing anything out of the ordinary, despite the fact that he's clearly sucking.

The most relevant stat/fact that you could've brought out (which you did do) was state the fact that he gets better as the season goes on.

I'm just surprised that you're surprised people are complaining about him.

The guy has a PER of 12.6 right now. The PER for the average player is 15. Therefore, he is playing like a scrub RIGHT NOW.

And that's the point that we're all making, RIGHT NOW he is sucking.

Even if you state the fact that he usually improves with every month, (while that's all well and good and at best gives us hope for the future) it still has nothing to do with just how bad he is at this point in time.

His numbers by month for the last 3 seasons?

09-10
Nov: 21.0 PPG/.436 FG%/.319 3PT FG%/39.2MPG
Dec: 22.4 PPG/.504 FG%/.381 3PT FG%/35.4 MPG
Jan: 20.9/.446/.380/38.5
Feb: 23.7/.496/.449/40.1
Mar: 19.2/.415/.333/38.2
Apr: Too small sample size

09-10 Playoffs: 20.9/.423/.250/41.1

10-11
Nov: 15.9/.400/.246/35.5
Dec: 17.5/.386/.286/37.9
Jan: 26.0/.504/.354/36.6
Feb: 16.6/.464/.333/34.8
Mar: 15.6/.450/.300/36.4
Apr: 15.7/.402/.227/29.9

10-11 Postseason: 18.0/.396/.333/41.0

11-12
Jan: 19.8/.437/.375/37.0
Feb: 14.5/.393/.263/35.2
Mar: 22.4/.488/.476/38.4
Apr: 17.8/.503/.400/30.8

11-12 Postseason: 17.2/.373/.250/40.3

With the exception of last season, I don't see a guy who gets consistently better as each month goes.

I see a guy who's super streaky and will have 1 good month and then bomb the next month.

09-10 is up and down.
10-11 starts off poor, has a great January and just gets worse from January onward.
11-12 is ok but when the competition steps up in the playoffs, he played poorly again.

So....yeah. Maybe he will get better but the stats also indicate that if he does get better one month, he will most certainly struggle very soon after.

I hope I'm wrong with JJ. I really do, but it doesn't bode well, when your job gets easier and yet you manage to play worse.

We'll see what happens.

He and LBJ are truly once-in-a-generation players.
