Are you sure it was footage from today? In preseason, Rose had a little jump shot session before a game at the UC that the media was allowed to film.

I think it's from today because I was watching on the Pacers feed, and they were talking a bit about Derrick Rose, and say which we already know that he is been shooting the ball when there is a home game, and they show the footage I am 80% sure it was today footage.

It was old footage from earlier this year. It wasn't new footage and to call them jumpshots is a bit of a stretch. More like set shots with an inch of air.

Derrick Rose has been dunking for weeks, but let's stop the madness

He's not anywhere close to practicing or playing. There are those in his camp who don't think he should play at all this season, for a couple of reasons: first, and foremost, the Bulls don't have a championship-caliber roster, so why shorten the strength and conditioning period for his knee to drag them into the playoffs or an extra round or two deeper. Second, don't mask just how flawed this roster is by coming back and finishing up strong.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

But any suggestions that he could come back before March, from what I'm told, is filling the fan base and everyone else with unrealistic hope that a championship run is still in the equation.

Well, this puts some heat on Gar/Pax eh??

Not really. The Rose family circle were going to make sure he was 100% & ready regardless of the team on the floor. They have been looking to next season as a safe return anyway.

I think Rose should do what he want's to do. I hate the whole idea of his cicle holding him back. its not they're lives, its his. On the other hand, I believe that the organization has the right to say no if he wants to come back. They're employing him :)

I made it a rule not to take anything Bucher says seriously, though. Bucher is such a blowhard and has been responsible for so much misinformation on NBA news. I honestly cannot remember the last time he was right about anything "breaking" he's reported on.. He has been responsible for some of the biggest gaffes in sports journalism history.

I'm not sure which statement is more asinine.

First, Of course Rose isn't going to risk playing if he isn't fully healed and rehabbed.
Secondly, "an extra round or two deeper in the playoffs" is the ECF's, Bucher, you boob.
And last, "don't mask just how flawed this roster is by coming back and finishing up strong"... Sounds like it came from one of the tanking advocates on this board. Don't even know what to say about that comment.

Bucher is truly pathetic.

So am I reading this right? Rose could return relatively soon but his family is going to hold him out in an effort to tank and expose the roster. Is that what I just read?

How can he be dunking for weeks yet won't practice for a long time? That doesn't make any sense. If he's dunking, there aren't really a whole lot of other steps he has to pass before being cleared to practice I would think.

I think the issue with these 2 ideas competing against each other are 2 fold.

1) Rose is, relatively speaking to his injury, close to returning. 2 weeks? 4 weeks? Who knows..But he's close to at the very least practicing.

2) The Bulls are going to handle Rose with extra care. They've said so from the beginning. I don't expect it to change, even if Rose's current condition is under 15 percent away from 100 percent.

Bucher loss his "credible" many years ago, I take his reporting as a gain of salt. Now, Rose may sit out for the rest of the season only if he isn't ready. However, if he is ready to play at some point this season, then he needs to get on the floor and play that is where others who want Rose to sit out the entire season no matter what does not understand.

He needs to get on the floor, trust his knees not just get the rust out but gain his confidence with his knee, and trust his knee that is very important process.

Bucher probably confused Rose with Dwight, since Rose never let others influence his decision. If Rose is cleared by doctor and he think he is ready than he will play. (Even if JR won't clear him and probably has to lock Rose out from playing.)

He is probably dunking. I was able to jump and stuff at the 5-6 month mark. He's still not going to have the flexibility or strength in his knee to be practicing. I mean it's fixed, it's just that all those little muscle fibers need to get strong again before you can play competitively.

One thing I'd add is that it' would be silly to have him sit out the whole season. One of the most important aspects of recovery is using it again. Gaining trust in your knee and getting over that mental hurdle. Doctors will tell you to do all the stuff you used to at a point. So playing in games is part of the recovery, even if he's on a strict minute limit. It'd be stupid to sit him out all year and have him go through that experience next year. Get it out of the way this year.

But he should do what's in his best interest. The ownership does not care about winning and putting your career on the line for it is silly.

Here's a Yahoo Sports video just posted that focuses on Rose's progress: http://sports.yahoo.com/video/player/nb ... A/31289721

Quick summary:
- Rose is definitely ahead of schedule and "COULD" return "WELL" before February
- Seemingly the biggest thing that is holding Rose back from returning is the mediocrity of the current Bulls team
- Rose will have to get cleared by like 10 doctors before returning, according to his agent BJ

I don't buy/believe the competitiveness of the bulls playing into his position. They are without question a playoff team w/ Rose And there are no great teams in the East. I call BS

minor Rose update from sun-times

Post#98 » by patagonia » Tue Dec 11, 2012 3:43 am

When Derrick Rose will return is still uncertain, but he looked well on his way to recovery after Monday’s practice when he did individual shooting drills with assistant coach Ron Adams.

Rose initially shot with a medicine ball as he does in preparation for games, then he worked some stationary shooting and even took some turnaround jump shots. He looked to have good stability on the injured right knee and was able to turn on both legs.

obviously no timeline update, but i'll take this as good news

I'd like to take it as good news, but they don't even know which knee he injured.

Greg Anthony seems reliable enough. That said, I don't blame rose if he decides not to hurry back.
