Yeah, its interesting to see that. I wonder if they know something the rest of us dont. TBH I wouldnt be surprised to see Hamilton in Baltimore.

Seen multiple versions of that Arizona deal. One with Trevor Bauer included going to Cleveland and one where Bauer isnt included. Interesting indeed.

The scouts out there seem to think if you could get Wil Myers for a guy like James Shields you do it yesterday. The younger writers (new school?) seem to think the same. The older guys lean towards keeping the 31 year old pitcher.

If Melvin isn't inquiring to see if KC would even be interested in Yo I'd be disappointed. This is one of those rare times when a desperate team with serious young talent is on the verge of making a very short-sighted move. Smart teams would take advantage.

Sounds like Hamilton will either be a Mariner or a Ranger.

Ben Revere to the Phillies for Vance Worley.

Maybe Worley's arm issues were longstanding last year, but damn, that is a high price for a defensive specialist outfielder.

Minnesota also got Trevor May, the guy at the top of BA's list of Philly prospects last February.

Wow. That's officially a raping in a trade.

Revere did post a good WAR due to his baserunning and defense but I'll take the affordable pitching prospects any day of the week.

Minnesota trading both of their CFs (Span and Revere). Very interested to see who's gonna play CF for them in 2013.

Revere could be a stud hitting in front of Howard and Utley. Worley is nothing more than a #4 or #5 starter.

1. Don't know why they would care that much who is starting there. Still a transition year for them and neither was irreplaceable. They've got some way younger guys to come up but can fill with some stopgap for now.

2. He hit in front of Mauer/Morneau/Willingham who are all solid in their own rights and he was a horrible hitter. Base running and fielding are his strengths. Right now he's a faster version of Tony Gwynn Jr.

Worley is better than you think. Even if he's just a #4 or #5, right now that translates to higher in their rotation and he is under team control for what, 5 more years?

To be fair to Revere, I think his ceiling is Michael Bourn with a bit less power. That's not bad if he hits it.

I think Bourn is a much better overall hitter than Revere. And I doubt the Twins care who plays CF for them this year. They got two really good pitching prospects and a decent starter for two guys who weren't going to be part of their future in a year or two with Hicks hitting well in AA.

Yeah, time will tell if Revere's solid OBP he was showing earlier in the minors comes in. Otherwise, he sucks as a hitter.

On long run expected value, the Twins just demolished the Phillies. The Phillies must be desperate to make one last run with their old guys. I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the market for Jackson or Dempster.

Sounds like 2/15 which is what Joe Blanton got.

I definitely would have given McCarthy more than what Blanton got. I'm not a huge McCarthy fan but I probably would have taken him for that.

I really like McCarthy. One of the smartest pitchers in baseball.

I like it more for the Twins also, but there is a lot that remains to be seen with this trade.

Worley had a great rookie year, but wasn't exactly dominant in the minors and then he struggled this year before being shut down by his elbow. As for May, his numbers were great before a rough last year in AA ball. Given he isn't a Brewers prospect, i don't really know what kind of stuff he has and what kind of ceiling scouts project for him.

As for Revere, guys like him still have value because of his defense and speed. His contract status is a big plus also. What time will tell is if he can ever learn to walk at least a little more and turn some of his many singles into more doubles.

Phillies acquire Michael Young from the Rangers.
