Not to be harsh about this stuff, but I don't get why people are allowed to trumpet these bogus rumors. Just makes the forum look bad.

A few posters on this board have revealed trades in the past. Ralph has said it in the past, this is just stuff he's overheard through his sources.

I personally don't mind it, it gives us something else to consider and discuss.

Teams discuss trades all time, internally and with other teams. Even GarPax.
Precisely.

No, they are all made up. Go through the history of people here who have big rumors. Not a single one has come true. They don't have sources or connections, just posting BS. No one in the league is going to be trading for Boozer without giving back an equally horrible contract in return.

Not to be harsh about this stuff, but I don't get why people are allowed to trumpet these bogus rumors. Just makes the forum look bad.

Why does it make the forum look bad? If anything it's fun to talk about and it's what makes the forum interesting. So what if it doesn't happen, you think the FO doesn't talk about things that don't happen? If you don't talk about possibilities and the pros and cons from every possibility you're not going anywhere. If something presents it self right at the deadline and you already have talked about the pros and cons from that opportunity you are a lot further on the way to making a sound decision. And we don't even have to take decisions only doing the talk, that's a great situation to be in and a lot of fun to read the pros and cons other guys/girls are seeing to a rumored trade.

And how exactly do you know they are made up?

Good analysis. A 29 year old Deng would cost $15 million or so. Waste of money. There are always 26 year olds entering their prime who will be just as good for the next 5 years, and who cost half the price. Guys like Humphries or Dragic or Asik.

Why would a 29 year old Deng cost $15 million or so?

Is another team going to offer him that? Anywhere near that? If not, why would the Bulls have to spend that much to re-sign him?

And if other teams are willing to offer him something close to that, doesn't that maybe mean he's worth it?

Why did Deng's last contract cost that much? Was he worth what he got in his last contract? No, some might even say not at all. But he still got it. And this was after JR supposedly told Ben Gordon and Luol Deng to go find their own deals first so he could see the market value for them and meet those deals. Well, Deng got resigned anyway and Ben was confirmed off the team on an elevator a year before even leaving.

Our best luck would be to miss playoffs and get D'Rose lucky in the lottery. Draft Shabazz & bring over Miro (amnesty/trade Boozer)

Rose - Nate - Teague
Shabazz - Kirk
Deng - Butler
Gibson - Miro
Noah - Nazr - 2nd Rdr

That team would be about a $60mil team (we would need to resign Nate). Then we just have to pray that Shabazz and Mirotic turn into something relevant.

Very few, but it's nothing against Ralph or his info.

Further more, Ralph has actually broke trades before they were reported by any major news outlets. He called the Korver trade and also the Nate Robinson signing which was completely out of left field. He also called a few other things in the past, but I can't remember exactly. I think the Brad Miller trade was one of them.

I wasn't around when this went down, but I do believe I remember hearing that Ralph did, in fact, break that trade.

I'm still unsure why people treat any rumors like they are done deals or saying this trade will be made. We know that teams talk to each other, tons. For all the discussions, trades are actually pretty rare (although we treat them as though they are common at times).

We sit around here all day talking NBA, teams, and players, so do NBA front offices.

In the summer there was a rumor about one not good player the Bulls were *thinking about* *inviting to training camp* and people went nuts and had him in the starting lineup. Sadly, true story.

-------------------------

THE RUMORS ARE TRUE. That doesn't mean anything will evolve from them. Very few of them lead to actual transactions.

Screws up the signal to noise ratio too much. People don't know what are actual sourced rumors from those that are just made up by people looking for attention. It's fun to talk about trade possibilities and so forth, but saying there is validity to them is wrong when there isn't. At some point you don't know whether you're talking about reality or some NBA 2K fantasy.

Lets start with the Orlando Magic having interest in Carlos Boozer. This is a team that wanted nothing to do with anyone that had a long contract. They turned down Bynum, Gasol, and Iguodala in the Howard deal. But now all of a sudden they want to add on Carlos Boozer's $32 million over the next 2 years? Come on.

Rodman wrote:And how exactly do you know they are made up?

Because they never make sense and never come true. And hiding behind "they are just rumors" is such a cop out to never actually have to be held accountable.

Please read what Ralph says more carefully. He's pretty clear.

Things being discussed does not mean "this will happen".

Also, Ralph's rumors do make sense and have come true, the first part is your opinion and I disagree, the second part, you are wrong.

I have read things from Ralph that were later reported and made public.

Having said that, Ralph clearly labels his threads, so they are easy to avoid. :)

Learn to read buddy..i just posted maybe 4 comments up...believe what you want but dont call out people when you cant prove them wrong... i already said magic were not offering players in return for Boozer..Picks and TPE from Howard trade are in play.....think real hard on why they would want Boozer......how about they have no name players down their and are likely to not be able to sign a name player through FA.

Here's basically what it boils down to. A message board about basketball, something of this format-- will always have rumors.

They are part of what make this enjoyable, and no one here should take each rumor as some humongous thing to put their hopes on.

If you do not know how to handle rumors, or dislike them....the only thing i can really think of is the person should terminate their account. I hate to bring that up, but it seems like the only way to rid oneself of this menace then that is the RealGM rotten, lying populace

This reminds me of people who go on and on about Facebook format changes. Easy solution: leave facebook. No one is forcing you to be on it.

Are there any other rumors in this thread other than the original ones on page 1? It's hard to go through all 18 pages looking for them.

So the Magic turned down Bynum, Gasol, and Iguodala and took picks/TPE instead so that they could parlay that into Carlos Boozer. That makes absolutely no sense at all.
